CoM stadium is the home ground of Man city... and EPL club. You will have the same issues there as you will with Emirates or any other stadium that is in the EPL or championships. The FA will not allow it. Yes I'm aware but Soccer stadiums will have to be used, I'd wager a bet that atleast 90% of grounds in England over 25,000 capacity are occupied by a soccer club. CoM stadium and Old Trafford have both been used by RL lately and we need to start negotiations underway now to secure one of them for the desired weekend of the final, surely the draw for the next EPL season hasn;t been done so simply give Man City or United an away game that weekend and we're sweet. Yes that is true with wembley... but remember we have had 70,000 in wembley for test in the past. Its not unheard of. Do a double header I say. Personally I would have the 4N final in there... make it a festival of RL weekend. MOst soccer pitches are too small for RL. you need about 120m for a RL field where as most soccer pitches are 100m. I personally think we could get 65,000+ to the opening game but anyone who looks at the "world Cup Corwds" thread will see I'm not the best at picking crowds . However, I belive the final needs to be played at a ground that is big but not too big and CoM stadium would be perfect. The reason for this is there is a good chance England won't make the final andthat could affect the turnout. Old Trafford might be an option but it is a big too big for my liking and MU probably wouldn't like 2 games on their ground in the matter of a few weeks. Wembley should be used for the Pool game against AUS because England will definately be involved and it should be a much hyped game, I'm already looking forward to it ;D. What a tournament this will be, a great follow up to the WC. England are bound to be more competitive at home (well, hopefully), NZ are the World champs and will be looking for some revenge over the 2007 white-wash and add another trophy to their cabinet. Australia will be keen to get their hands on some silverware and France will hopefully compete well, should be alot stronger at home and with another Catalans season under alot of players belt aswell as Toulouse players raise in standard the French could pull off and upset.

No doubt, in fact ALL the venues reguarly used in the north are dual pupose stadiums and all the games in the 2007 kiwi tour were football grounds JJB, KC and Huddersfeild, in fact I couldnt tell you the last time we played at a "rugby league" ground, possibly the 2005 "test" against the kiwis? at saints

Looking at the shedule its safe if nothing else, Im so glad the wembley idea has been shunted I would have liked wembley... but in Hindsight i think your right... that would have been a tough ask and I just cant see the nth english fans doing two trips to wembley in a year... not in this climate anyway.

2009: Eng vs Fra - Doncaster - 15k max Aus vs NZ - The Stoop - 12k max Eng vs Aus - JJB Stadium - 25k max Fra vs NZ - Perpignan most likely - 12k max Eng vs NZ - Galpharm - 24k max Fra vs Aus - Toulouse most likely - 19k max Total - 107k max
You know looking at that... that is absolute shite... Aus NZ should have been somwhere else... Galphram wont fill out for the NZ game, Aus should have been there... I am now actually dissapointed in that... and Elland rd... Leeds UTD must be in financial problems once again....

I think a lot of us would have liked wembley but not too many people would have liked the reality of a half full wembley

I think in many ways the Aus V NZ game should have been in Aus or NZ. Thats IF the roumours are true about no other suitable UK venues in London. . But you have to ask yourself, the Stoop is the home of Londons only pro RL club its good publicity for the club and the game in the capital if that game sells out, which it should

Hell the Unioite manages about that last year for a Baba v Wannabies game and it looke decent as they made sure the bottom rafters were full and the cameras didnt pan to the top.... I mean its not fucking rocket surgery on how to do this shit.
