The final was postponed. There's been a lot of rain recently and I went past the Hutt Rec on Sunday and there were some massive puddles.
The final now being played at Porirua Park on Saturday August 9. Porirua held up really well for both semis back to back so probably a wise choice.

ugh gee. that sucks.
BTW have updated the Representative section with the NZ Provincial schedule.
I still have not been able to find stuff for Waikato and Bay of plenty, the only comps seem to be Wellington, Auckland and Cantebury.

Wellington final result:
North City 24 Wanuiomata 22 (ht:12all)
Great game played in testing conditions. Wainui scored first but Norths came back with two tries and from then on were just one step ahead. It started hailing for a few minutes in the second half but the field stayed in pretty good condition throughout. Wainui had a chance to win it with the last possession of the game but overall Norths were the better team in the final and throughout the season.

Just thought I'd mention what a high the game of league is on in NZ at the moment.
The All Blacks won the Bledisloe Cup and Tri-Nations (the two main trophy's for them outside of the World Cup) last weekend and that was completely overshadowed by the Warriors win. The papers on Monday morning focused on the Warriors and all the talk around the place was on the league.
This week we had the Warriors in Auckland last with Auckland playing Wellington at Eden Park tonight for the Ranfurly Shield (the most famous prize in NZ rugby) and the focus has stayed on the league all week.
Although I don't support the Warriors in the NRL it is good times for NZ league at the moment. This wave of interest is coming at the right time with the RLWC just around the corner.
Just imagine if a NZ team won the NRL in Australia's centenary year ;D

Imagine if the Warriors won the premiership and NZ won the WC. I'm well and truly on the Warriors band-wagon.

Has been a dream of mine for a while ;D Still a long shot but we are closer than ever before to having a WCC with no English or Australian teams. The odds are only going to go up from now on with Celtic joining next year, Toulouse likely for 2012 and maybe a 2nd NZ before too long. If it did happen where would they play the game? Perpignan or maybe a bigger venue, maybe Barcelona? Personally I would like to see the WCC become a 3 game series, 1 home game each and 1 neutral but that's another story.

People only talk about the Ab's when they lose, that's the problem with us. As for the WCC it should only be a one game event I think, otherwise it takes too .long and isn't as special.

Yeah I don't like the Warriors either and I wish they weren't called the New Zealand Warriors as I don't feel as though they represent me in Wellington at all. They've only played in other cities in NZ when other teams have organised it. That's why we need another team in the NRL. But it is good to see the interest in league at the moment and hopefully with more people tuning in they will notice the higher level of skill and excitement in league over union.
