Maybe Serbia are just improving faster than Russia? Not sure. I honestly hope your right here jim, I honestly hope they are both improving. But having seen the standard of play from Russian teams over the last 12 months, well as i say its a little worrying because the 2nd tier is still a long way ahead, it seems we are all in agreement on this point, for once Well I hope this isn't the case but I dare say come next year Scotland and Ireland will look a lot different. why do you say that mate? because of the ring ins? I dont think Ireland and Scotland have took on too many ring ins theres a few but the little bit of optimism in me is hoping some of these guys turn out for Ireland/Scotland for a few years yet. But you are right, Scotland V France will be one of the games of the WC I think. I hope so, I think with the Hendersons, Brough, Greseque and Bosc we could be looking at an open free flowing game, cant wait! Russia should be able to afford a trip to USA a year, but I suppose you have to add to that the cost of travelling to the UK if they are going to be promoted. I would like to see USA tour europe once a year but the $ might not be there. Ofcourse other teams should return the favour. I dont know mate, it costs a lot of money to put 20+ guys up even in the likes of a youth hostel, you have to pay the living costs, coach them find places to train, feed them........... You know these are all problems faced by even the likes of NZ and England.

Regional championships... an Atlantic cup. I would have USA, Morocco, South africa and Jamaica in it. whilst I agree that regualr comps are the way forward, this is not a "regional comp" is it, we are talking some huge differences between Morrocco in the north of africa to SA, obviously in the south and the USA and Jamacia which are a 10 hour flight away from Morrocco, again it comes down to cost for what will be some of the poorest RL nations in the world. Euro and pacific comps would be relatively easy, and beneficial for the game, this, not so easy and could possibly break the bank, after all SA pulled out of games with the USA and Japan because of lack of funds.

I was a bit harsh on Ireland and Scotland, alteast they have taken it upon themselfs to name locals in the squad even though they didn't have to, I don't think Samoa or Tonga named any locals. However next year I believe atleast a few of the players from the WC won't be there. Players like Brett White, Keith Galloway, Michael Roberston etc. I hate to say it but there are alot of players in both WC squads just wanting a free ride. I hope so, I think with the Hendersons, Brough, Greseque and Bosc we could be looking at an open free flowing game, cant wait! Wish it was in QLD so I could go, anyways it will be a good night of footy with the Opening ceremony running straight after.

It's not out of the question to suggest that the only IRL Keith Galloway wil ever play will be for scotland, so why shouldnt he commit to them. Wish it was in QLD so I could go, anyways it will be a good night of footy with the Opening ceremony running straight after. Never mind mate, still get to watch on the TV

I see that Julia Bennison is there... she would have been organising things from the RLEF side, she also did the Euro Bowl so its gonna be a well run event from her.

I think that some comments are not fair on Russia's account. It looks like Russia is not good neither when winning nor when loosing.
But, I want to be back on Euro Med Challenge. If you go back few pages you'll see that I wrote that I thought that Russia would defeat Lebanon. What I didn't write is that I thought it would going to be 40 pts, but it turn they put them just in the first half that sum. It really looks like last summer Espoir team was stronger than this one, but Serbia will be very careful. I suppose that we are quoted as a favourite in RL public in this match, but we still don't know what will be Lebanese squad for this match. I think that there will be no much changes for Serbia game, but Cedars will try to save their pride on home soil, so it might be some new faces in their line-up.
Serbian 18-men squad is as follows: Radoslav Novakovic (Dorcol Spiders, captain) Dario Milosavljevic (Podbara) Dalibor Vukanovic (Eastmoor Dragons, UK) Mate Granic (Dorcol Spiders) Milos Milanko (Dorcol Spiders) Nenad Grbic (Podbara) Filip Brkic (Dorcol Spiders) Zoran Pesic (Eastmoor Dragons, UK) Mario Milosavljevic (Podbara) Austen Novakovic (Halifax U21 Academy, UK) Filip Jankovic (Dorcol Spiders) Marko Zebeljan (Podbara) Soni Radovanovic (Dorcol Spiders) Jovan Vujosevic (Dorcol Spiders) Milos Kucancanin (Red Star) Milos Stanic (Belgrade University XIII) Dimitris Dajc (Dorcol Spiders) Niksa Unkovic (Dorcol Spiders)
One of the boys will be the water boy, while the others will try to clinch the first victory over some Lebanese national team. Three U18s are included: Filip Brkic, Austen Novakovic and, as a debutant, U18s national team captain Niksa Unkovic. The chance for the first cap has Milos Stanic, who plays for Belgrade University team. The squad is dominated with champions and current national conference leaders Dorcol Spiders, but there is quarter from Novi Sad based finalists Podbara and a prop from Red Star. This time, there will be no Palilulac Hammers players, because Aleksandar Sic (who was winger versus Russia) is injured.
Serbian team fly to Beirut via Rome tomorrow afternoon.

Lebanon 20-14 Serbia (halftime: 6-10) Gee I thought you would have won this one Spider... what happened? Still I would not get too disheartened, I think Serbia has shown massive strides in improvement since 2 years ago.

Penalty count in the second half was: Lebanon 2, Serbia 12. All the boys told me that referee had weird criteria in second half, but also admit that we should win and that we made some mistakes like passing the ball in the hand of the defense, which resulted in 60m run to the in-goal area.
