I did ask him... he holds an Itlaian passport through his mother... and hasn't played for Samoa since that england game. As long as he sticks for them... I am not sure if I would want to badger him about it, he semms a nice guys. But I may try and ask what is throughs are on those things... just to see the mentality these players have and why. I dont blame him one little bit, if he has an islander parent and a european parent then thats fine but who allowed him to play for two nations, its the same old same old.......................

I don't mind it, adding strength to a developing nation and doing so within the rules, hopefully he won't piss off back to samoa though. I see graig Gower is trying to play for Italy RU now, so RU isn't completely free of these pronblems either. Brad Thorn was eligable for Australia last year and not NZ but now he's back in S14 he's an all black again. Is he better at union than he is league? seems very stange that a bloke that couldn't even make QLD, a fair way off at that could walk straight into the world''s best union team.

The problem with RL is it is much smaller player pool than these other games so the professional players for 10-15 countrys come from 2 or 3 countrys. Brad Thorn was eligable for Australia last year and not NZ but now he's back in S14 he's an all black again. Thats cos unions shit.

Well, it is of course the matter of several issues: Will we stick with the rules and do not allow players to play for different countries in two-year period or will we help developing nations to establish the game by letting them to use grandparental rule whenever they want? What is more important, rules and laws (no mattewho is in question) or making the precedents?
I don't have a thing against it if all other competitors are agreed with eligibility rule in the competition, but I think that Germans and Czechs had no idea that officially non-eligible player would play for Italy.
Of course, above written is valid if that rule still exist. If no, I apologize to Kaleopa and Italian RL.

It could be said that the grand parent rule doesnt help development if it is overused, you have said this to me yourself spider. UK and Aus has many Serbian passport holders but using these players has not always been best for Serbia RL I don't have a thing against it if all other competitors are agreed with eligibility rule in the competition, but I think that Germans and Czechs had no idea that officially non-eligible player would play for Italy. Of course, above written is valid if that rule still exist. If no, I apologize to Kaleopa and Italian RL. I agree with you spider but i feel this is exactly like Fui Fui Moi-Moi but in reverse, I dont feel we can feel aggreived towards Moi-Moi for turning his back on Tonga but when this guy chooses Italy were happy for it despite having played for Samoa in the same tournament as Moi-Moi played for Tonga This leads me to Druzik's rant about "his" article I dont have it to hand but I think the comments about Italian RL are spot on, they have a dedicated bunch but we see very little go forward in Italy, no domestic comp (I dont feel a one off game can be classed as a domestic comp) and year on year some English/Australian Italians have a run out in Italy and go see their Nana.

2nd game this weekend, Czechs V Italy.
You going to this game Dan? What ground is it being played at.
I think Italy will win to win the shield, I would like to see the czechs win though to leave the series open, maybe germany can still win?

Breaking the rules can harm the game and atmosphere, especially in the competitions such as European Shield or lower. Policy of Serbian RL is clear, we did not use our diaspora players for the matches in European Shield last year, but will probably do that in Euro-Med Cup, because we play v higher ranked countries and it is going to be just few players that already played for us (reasonable number, 4-6). They are not NRL or SuperLeague sensations, they are just our Serbs willing to play for their origin country. Those guys have with no ambition to become the stars here and go home to UK or OZ, they enjoy playing for Serbia, when they jobs let them.

I belive the 2 yr rule is still active Policy of Serbian RL is clear, we did not use our diaspora players for the matches in European Shield last year, but will probably do that in Euro-Med Cup, because we play v higher ranked countries and it is going to be just few players that already played for us (reasonable number, 4-6). This is OK Serbia are doing genuine development work, unlike Italy. They are not NRL or SuperLeague sensations, they are just our Serbs willing to play for their origin country. Those guys have with no ambition to become the stars here and go home to UK or OZ. Well I think this is the case for every Developing and 2nd tier nations not too many can call on the likes of Danny Brough (Scotland) and Feleti Mateo (Tonga). Most of these players are, being brutally honest, semi-pros or average SL players. Players who play for Scotland, Lebanon or Tonga are doing so because they cant get a gig for one of the big 3.

Yep! I have it recorded as well, actually all of them except for kaleopas are recorded. I am hoping to get a few more this weekend. Maybe Andy Fairhurst and Milan Myrtanek as well as another from Andrew and who ever the RLEF rep is.
It was good to see that RL made the effort to get out there, wasn't the easiest of stadiums to find.

Of course, above written is valid if that rule still exist. If no, I apologize to Kaleopa and Italian RL. We knew nothing about what side the Italians would put out. We know that the rules state that 10 players must be from the Native land. I think Italy had the 10 not that it really matters as we just want to play games. I am not sure playing Professionals in the comp does that much good. Germany and the Czechs are all amateurs and the resources all go back in to developing the game there. With the Italians I am not sure how things work as they have an italian RL group based in Oz as well. Getting games on is tough and the Italians are finding that as we all are. I think Germany took 31 Players to Padua-5 were from the German Exiles in the UK. One of them is having trials at halifax starting this week July 11th. A person must have played one game in the last 6 months for the German Exiles to qualify for the National team. the 5 players have more or less been with us from the start except Paul Szehofner who is going to take on a role working with German in germany on a part time basis. What that role will be exactly will be announced in the future-probably early next year. Germany and the Czechs aim to play each year on the first weekend of August. We both feel to have the same date each year is best for everybody. We both feel that all the comp is important its the things often going on domestically that is the most important to look at. Serbia is a good example to follow we both feel.
