with france coming back into the european nations next year and hopefully Russia working things out with this comp be expeanded to an 8 team comp with four team in each group or will two teams be relegated to the european bowl or lower tier comp...... It will be at 6, but the lower tier tournaments will also be expanded to 6 from what I have been told. Possible look: 4 Nations England, New Zealand, Australia, PNG(?) European Cup France, wales, Ireland, Scotland, Russia, Lebanon European Shield Serbia, Italy, Germany, Czech, Ukraine, Latvia European Med Estonia, Catalonia, Belgium, Morroco, Norway, Holland Other Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Malta, Portugal, UAE

Serbia are the team hard done by i guess. although losing 82-0 to Scotland might sugest theyre a bit of of their depth. do u knwo if there will be a relegation system or will that deminish the credit of the european shield....

When Russia return next year, well hopefully return I would have them play 5th from this year away for a spot in next years tournament. So if Serbia come 5th, Serbia V Russia in Serbia for European Cup qualification.
I would like to see the structure like this:
Cup - France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Lebanon, Russia Shield - Serbia, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic Med Cup - Spain, Ukraine, Morocco, Belgium Bowl - Latvia, Estonia, Norway
I would play the Euro Cup as either every nation plays each other once or two pools but each team plays the others twice. Preferably the first method to increase games and reduce time.
I have to say that looks alot more balanced than this year, I doubt very much you will see many blowout scores in the Cup, maybe from Russia's end but they have been around that level for a while and need the game time to improve. Now that's an international scedule that I would be happy to see.

I think we need to persevere with Serbia at this level, not too long a go Morrocco put over a Hundred on them, Relegating them is not going to do them any favours in the long run.
Just like playing in this competition next year wont do France any favours.

So if Serbia come 5th, Serbia V Russia in Serbia for European Cup qualification. yes that would make sense... but what about Lebanon we havent seen how they will go so far yet, they are the other team that could be out of their depth. Cup: France I think wouyld win that hands down... Shield: is pretty spot on Med: Ukraine and Morrocco would be too strong, but remember Morocco doesnt have a domestic comp so their promotion is limited. Bowl Latvia way too strong for Estonia and Norway. still 7 nations missing from your schedule. The current ENC system is OK I think, it gives all teams three quality matches. You have to remember that for nations like Serbia, Lebanon and Italy people are taking time off work, its not Aus where most players are semi pro and can take some time off work and emplyers know the sport and are happy to do so. Besides, like I said the schedule I put above is what is being looked at. There are 25 teams playing in Europe now, and all need to be accomodated in matches.

Just like playing in this competition next year wont do France any favours. I agree with that, I would be keeping them there, I would also be keeping France in thr 4N which would solve the releagtion problem. I think they will relegate 6th from this year and have Russia play 5th for a spot in next years tournament. I would like to see them persist with Serbia and have 7 nations next year but I doubt it will happen. Maybe the best thing to do would be to give them the hosting of Serbia V Russia if they come 5th and get Wales, Ireland, Scotland or Lebanon play them as warm up. That way they get a shot at qualification or at worst 2 games against Euro Cup competitors then they can play Italy, Germany and the likes.

I agree with most of that, I think Lebanon should be a good deal stronger than Serbia and Italy as they have been in the past because they can call on professional players. Your schedule is probably closer to the mark i agree, good to see that Portugal and Greece are looking to get teams in the RLEF system of tournaments.

Yeah, itlay's inexperience is showing they were out of depth... but what can you do hey, they were the best solution to a tough problem.
They will learn for the future and I hope get more opportunities to play at higher levels.

Of course, when you play v pros, it is doesn't really matter who do you have in the team. We are in similar situation. We should face each other and admit that the level of the SuperLeague/NRL/Championship composed teams is 80 to 100 pts higher thatn amateurs. Saw that in Ireland, probably will see that in Smederevo today.

I agree with that Spider, feel free top answer this later but what do you think the situation should be with yourselves, Italy and Russia next year? providing Russia want back in that is. I would hope the RLEF would organise a qualifier of EC09 5th V Russia for a spot in the 2010 version. Anyway best of luck for today mate.

Serbia 8-88 Wales Better performance this time for Serbia, especially in the first 60 minutes. We held 6-12 and 8-28 in he first half an hour, and even 0-all first 15 minutes of the second half, but when we were denied to score then fell and concede few tries from straight sets and lost heavily at the first view.
There is a time to analyse next year, we now turn to the 5th place game in two weeks. Enough time for the both us and Italians to show something more.

Well take heart spider, you got 8 points on the board which is something. That means there is something to work from there. I think however you still should have no problems in the 5/6 play off.
