Okay time for my rant.
Once again we have had games ruined by shit refereeing. The Titans and Souths game resembled a rah rah match for the amount of soft penalties. And yes my beloved Manly lost due to poor discipline again. Have a look at the howler of a descision to reward a try of a 5m forward pass that changed the outcome of the game. Yes you have read correctly 5m.

If you say so mate, the officials dont go into the game thinking theyre gonna favour one side or the other, if you think they are your really showing you have a limited knowledge of the game, or your being a fanboy. As I said from what I saw of the Manly/Wests game the reffing was pretty much standard for both sides, as a fan of one side your gonna see what you want. The fact is that despite having the ref against them your boys got out to a 20 point lead, its not the ref who let that slip. I got this from a mate today after the Manly vs Parra game and you will be disgusted. 'Anybody listening to SportsEar must be appalled at the talk between the refs, with pre-meditated penalties (listening to the 'senior' ref tell the 'junior' ref to ping the next ruck is disconcerting), an emphasis on evening-up the penalty count' To me this is like fixing a game and shouldn't happen

I think the 2 ref system is starting to fall over... has the game got to quick? I was watching the Crusader v Cats game last night and it was hell of a lot more enjoyable than any of the NRL this weekend bar Easts and Wests... only because the players were allowed to get on and play the sport without Thiery Alibert getting in the way... sure he made a few weird decisions but they didn't get in the way of the flow of the match and the penalties were deserved ones.

It seems that some of the refs want to be bigger than the players and game.

Bill "Hollywood" Harragon was a prime example of this.
Apparently they also ask the video ref what the penalty count is during the games. That question should never need to be asked.

They mentioned it on the sunday footy show.Hopefully it stops happening now that the media is aware about it and the general public is aware of it.

Refs got it wrong, admits NRL referees boss Robert Finch

Mea culpa ... NRL referees coach Robert Finch says the officials got in wrong in manly's controversial loss to the Eels. Source: The Daily Telegraph
NRL referees boss Robert Finch has conceded his officials made two errors costing Manly and Parramatta points in Sunday's match at Parramatta Stadium.
Finch says the referees erred in awarding Manly's first try and an obstruction penalty should have been awarded to the Eels.
He also says the final pass for centre Joel Reddy's crucial try for Parramatta was forward.
Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler blasted the match officials after his side's 24-20 loss.
"I'm pretty disappointed with the team's performance yesterday afternoon," Finch told reporters on Monday.
"There were two incidents in this game which led to points - the first being the first try that Manly scored which was clearly a breach of the key indicators.
"An obstruction should have been awarded against the Manly side and a penalty to the Eels."
"And the (Joel Reddy) try that the Eels scored ... the last part was clearly forward."
Finch said a decision on whether touch judge Gavin Reynolds would be dropped for round three would be made on Tuesday.

they can keep luke rooney; he ncan barely cut it with the panthers yet he's in line for an england call up. actually so is lesley vanacolo, he must be getting on now.
craig wing and craig gower are too old now. i really really dont want mark gasnier back. the most overrated/ overpaid player of the last decaded! ryan cross is getting on in age. will chamber i would like to see back , but no real loss imo. clinton schifcoske is 34 and still coming back to league.

I have to agree with Anthony here... that fwd decision was appalling, the pass may as well have been in the NFL as far as I am concerned... it was ridiculous. I didnt see it but its becoming a problem at whatever level you watch the game, the bloody touchies seem to just be there to get a free ticket! I think the 2 ref system is starting to fall over... has the game got to quick? The game has got too quick, thats why coaches and particuarly fans are whinging about wrestling, at the end of the day we need time in the ruck otherwise your going to see 5 scoots from dummy half and for me thats infinatly more boring than watching the ruck. Obviously I have watched more SL than NRL but every time I watch the NRL i yearn for two refs, the game needs it, its pretty much common sense IMO the game has changed out of sight in the last 10 years never mind the last 100 odd. Theres too much going on for one guy to do. My theory is like anything the two official system needs work, for example instead of a senior and junior ref each ref should work his own aspect of the game i.e one doing the line one doing the ruck, if the line refs sees an infringment in the ruck then tough its not his place to say. Ultimatly though what needs to happen, not just in RL but in all sport is the refs need to be accountable when he makes mistakes, if a player or coach makes enough mistakes then he will not be involved the next week, it should be the same for referees.

As i say I didnt hear it and dont know in what context it was said.
