Weren't they supposed to be signing Greseque aswell?

This from Cliff Spracklen, so you can add Maxime Circirko and Yoan Barteheau to the list.

Some good signings there, I have only ever heard of Worth, Anseleme and Griffi but they are all great signings. Degal and Anthony maria are pretty young guys and are well thought of , Degal was at Leeds rhinos for a short stint last year. Weren't they supposed to be signing Greseque aswell? I think its just roumour so far they also say Saddoui and Rinaldi too just out of interest these are the players who will be retained from last year Laurent Carrasco Cédric Gay Joris Canton Olivier Pramil Adrien Viala Cédric Fauré Bastien Almarcha Sébastien Planas Sylvain Houlès Bruno Ormeno Constant Villegas (did hear a roumour he signed for the dragons, may be wrong) Jérôme Goût. with some youngsters also promoted Hosni Kriouache Yoan Gigord Mathias Erhart Kévin Liguoro Look out for Kriouache, young fullback who was blooded last year and looks a fine player, by all accounts.

So Toulouse may do a bit of a Celtic sorta thing. Own NL1 then get a franchise. I'm glad to see they have a lot of French players too, but the truth is there is more players to call from in France than Welsh players in Wales.

I believe that any club that wants to bid for SL in 2012 has to play in the NL1 GF in the next 2 years. I hope they scrap this rule as it seems unfair to Toulouse, I would hate to see them miss out because they didn't make the the NL1 GF.

Well the general opinion is the French comp is like the middle/bottom of NL1 so I think its perfectly fair, TBH jim Toulouse already have dispensation from relegation for 3 years and an extra 5 quota places for imports, something not afforded to my own home town club Barrow, some might already say Toulouse already have an unfair advantage. There are two sides to every coin....................

I would believe that Toulouse would try and secure the best French players available and yes, the 5 overseas players. Therefore making the NL1 GF should be a must for Toulouse because they have to prove they can hold their own against SL teams. We can't send them in there if they can't make the NL1 GF with French players which would then make them buy plenty of imports.

Well I hope they do dominate NL1, would be a darn shame if they missed out just because they didn't make the GF in 2 years. Same with Widnes, I think we all agree these two look the best candidates for SL 2012. Hopefully Toulouse can set up a trade system with Catalans that sees players like Bentley's, Stacul, Touxagas etc going on loan for periods of time. Where is Sabri? would he be a possibler look in within the next couple of years? or is he signed with another Sl club?

I disagree they will own NL1 myself, it will be a tough slog for them to get upto NL1 level IMO, but I do agree with you on the fact that they should stick to the rules, if they need to make a GF to get a franchise I think thats perfectly fair, and it will suggest that the club using majority of French players have earned their right to a SL spot.

I think you wil get your wish there jim, a few guys with good knowledge of the French game have already said that negotiations are on going for Catalans/Toulouse loanees. As for Cyril Stacul as he has been released and will probably go back to Toulouse. Sabri is still contracted to Carcassone AFAIK.

By "own" I do not mean win every match, what I mean is the top half of the competition, which I believe should be expected, otherwise why throw them into NL1 if they can't cope. Then in three years if they can't make the NL1 GF then why bother with SL.

I dunno Ryan, I see them like Catalans, first year I think they will struggle (hope they stay off the bottom though to keep the moaning flatcappers quiet) and the following year the top six then hopefully they can make that GF. But yeah, exactly if they cant do the biz in NL1 then whats the point of them being in SL.

But yeah, exactly if they cant do the biz in NL1 then whats the point of them being in SL. Well let's hope that's not the case because I think they have to make the final in 2009 or 2010 because 2011 would be too late. I agree that they should have to abide by the rules but I don't agree with the rule. What if 2 clubs with no right to SL are in the GF in both 2009 and 2010? does that mean only those 2 clubs can bid? What if Widnes and Toulouse both miss the GF then the 2 best candidates from NL1 can't even bid? It just seems like a slightly relaxed version of P&R TBH. Also let's be honest the NL1 side is going to look alot different than the SL side if you know what I mean? I know the quota is being reduced though, what will it be in 2012? Well I guess unless they change the rule I'll have to live with it, might give me a chance to see what it's like being a NL1 fan where my club NEEDS to win. Also good news if the trade deal goes ahead.
