I understand this, but the Super League can not handle this expansion, and for any of these nations to get anywhere there needs to be a professional team(s). That's why we need to develop France, or look for a European comp. I know it's something that seems rushed, but I think Europe can definitely handle it. I dunno, there's so many options, but there needs to be a second competition of the standard of Super League in 10 years. My personal opinion, that's all. But thats just it, it doesnt have to be in Super league. The championship level;s can handle this as well. If we can make at least another level fully pro then why not have it there. If the french get their act together then certainly they can absorb a team or two from italy as well as catalonia (spain). Russia is alraedy doing this with the Ukranian team(s). Well yeah, that's what I think about the French, if they get their act together they have to at least have a Catalonian, two Italian and maybe even a Southern English team, due to the close proximity of the nations. But logistically travelling from England to Spain or Italy to play might not be the best option either. I dunno, but yes, France is the nect logical place to have a major professional league. (I hope so, I am planning on going there to try and get a career, BTW how possible is it that I could?).

OK its not eth huge money thats in super league but the fact that alot of ex NRL and kiwis are making a decent living there means that the $$ not too shabby. Teams like Lezignan have player budgets in the $1-1.5 million mark. Look to try a career ther, you just need to make contact and go and try out with them, its like anywhere in pro sport. Occasionally Cliff Spracklen puts out feelers to keen players when clubs are looking for someone... I'll keep my ears open for you.

I don't think this is a bad thing at all. It will give Lyon a chance to re-build and come back stronger. I don't imagine their crowds will dip seeing as they didn't have much sucess and their fans seem to be mainly die-hards that would follow the team in any league, infact with the double headers taking place they might even grow their crowds in Elite 2 which would set them up nicely when they re-emerge in Elite. Player wise it will give them a chance to give permanent to spots to talented local juniors, much like Castleford in '07 and Salford in '08. Hopefully all goes well and we will see both Lyon and Montpelliar in Elite 2010 with a TO 2nd squad coming in next season.

The Corbeil Cougars, from Corbeil-Essonnes just south of Paris, mentioned on a previous posting and featured in the current RLW magazine have just clinched the Elite 2 Championship. The Corbeil Cougars defeated favourites Catalan side Baho, by 30-14 at Albi to take the title north. Baho included several players from last years Elite 2 Championship winners Le Barcares. Hopefully this will make the Federation take seriousl;y the development of the sport in the ile De France (Greater Paris) region.

Welll we have back to back chamions, power has well and truly shifted to the Aude region now.... Not bad for a team from a town of about 10,000!
Lézignan 40/32 Limoux
11,263 spectators.
Re. the Orange coverage
They ended up getting coverage when the winners were lifting the trophy, how pathetic is that?
The guys at Rugbyforumxiii are rightly p'd off seeing as they pay for Orange coverage and they got 2 mins after the game finished of Lezignan holding up the title.
