Glad Avignon are getting a win or two, WTF is happening to St Gaudens, they have been poor this year coming to watch any French/Russian teams in the CC this year dan? If my contract is renewed and am still in Europe then 100% yes. I think it will be a russian team since I have done the french team already. But we need to make sure its in some obscure part of England again... I loved the treck upto Barrow and Whitehaven! I will be heading to WCC in March though. Be doing ESL final and CC final again as well.

Avignon 22 Limoux 26
Tries from Dean Amos (2) for Avignon, but Herve Marrot, Mickeal Mayans and Sam Key did the business for Limoux
ASC 22 Pia 36
Another win for my team the juggernaught keeps coming unfortuanatly for ASC they have been penalised again for feilding ineligible players David Delpux, Arnaud Vital and Nicholas De Martini were the culprits and ASC have given themselves another mountin to climb.
St Gaudens 28 Carpentras 14
A much needed win for the bears with a try for world cup returnee Jean Christophe Borlin, but with the club still in finacial trouble this is just the start for them.
UTC 48 Lezignan 8
A good win for UTC who had Dragons players availiable for them in the shape of Andrew and Kane Bentley, Julien Touxagas and Cryil Stacul young srum half William Barthau scored two tries and created five more with his devastating kicking game.
Villenuve 49 Lyon 0
Sorry Druzik, another loss for the northerners, taking a nilling form the much improved Leopards who had home town hero Laurent Carcasso back for the World Cup. Australian Halfback Micheal Roberts was the creator and the magnificently named Curtis Curry bagged a try alongside young winger Paulo Novais getting a brace.

This about the comming weekend. The latest twist in the extra games weekend is that 3 games will now take place at Carcassonne and two at Avignon. Originally the proposal was all 5 games at one venue. The LER then found they could not find a suitable ground so made a decision that the games would take place at 5 different grounds, ie the home of the highest place from last season being at home. subsequently some clubs protested that they would have an extra away game, whilst their opponents got the advantage of an extra home match. So a last minute change has been made just this week. Note Carcassonne still get home advantage, and Avignon now face Villeneuve at home when last week it was the reverse. So still a mish mash. But great for Audois. Maybe not so good for JM. The revised fixture list from the Federation is: LE SAMEDI 13 DECEMBRE 2008 CARCASSONNE/LIMOUX CARCASSONNE - 18h00 LEZIGNAN/PIA CARCASSONNE - 20H00 LE DIMANCHE 14 DECEMBRE 2008 UTC/ST GAUDENS CARCASSONNE - 15H00 VILLENEUVE/AVIGNON AVIGNON - 14H00 CARPENTRAS/LYON AVIGNON - 16H00

So, I was in Carcassonne on the weekend for the first of the "Magic" weekend the french are experimenting with. Its been split over two venues in Carca and Avignion. I was only able to attend saturdays games, but they were absolute crackers. First up were the home side Carcassonne against Traditional rivals Limoux. Their first meet earlier in the year ended with Carca winning by 2 34-32 and a similar result ended up here. The match started off very slowly... it was almost a game of Rugby Union with Aerial Bombingt of the goal posts with numerous Penalty attempts... even from the 40 m line out wide! The odd "Its not Rugby Union" comments were hurled out to the players. They obviously heard and reacted to it because from the 15 minute mark some very well structured tries were scored. Daniel Wagon had a great game and probably was one of the best on field but Moly's break on 60 mins was what sealed it for the Craca as momentum shifted to them from there. It was a damp day overall, cloudy with a bt of rain earlier made things slippery and there were many handling errrors, but many did come from the teams wnating to throw the ball around... I think they had an aversion to getting tackled. lol. 3 send off later as well and Carca had sealed a tight win against one of the front runners 26-24. The second match was juicy, Last seasons final re-match between Lezignan and PIA. This was a tough game from the start and was pretty much in the balance till tyhe last 10 minutes where Lezignan managed to pull away. Chris beatie put in another ruggered performance. Lezignan were led by Wynn and Taylor was at full back. At half time scores were 16-16 but in the end Lezignan were too strong. I think the balance of power has really shifted from the Catalan region back into the Aude in france which is nice to see for a change. This could bode really well for Toulouse in the NL1 and their next super league bid. Off the field stories... so there were some of Catalan players out in Cracassonne. The two I managed to have a good chat with and pose for photos with were Remi Casty and Clint Greenshields. I spoke to Remi about his thoghts and experineces about the WC, I was a bit apprehensive asking about what happened to France but to his credit he was happy to talk about it. Basically what he said was that after the Scotland game they were really fired up and thought they would do well, but just were surprised by the Fijians which threw them onto the back foot and it was hard to get any momentum back into the game. To his credit he made no excuses, he said Fiji out played them and that was that, but he seemed realy excited about the 4 Nations and hinted that it will be a better prepared France next year. I must have spent about 20 mins with him just chatting. Clint Greenshields was awesome. Its always hard to be able to Gauge if a top player like that wants to be hassled, but usually they are OK. Clink was a star. We got chatting just about general stuff... he did the spart thing and literally was rugged up with layers of ruggs wrapped around him, he looked like an old babushka from Russia ;D Anyway we got onto the topic of IRL, and he became real excited. He started asking questions about all the countries playing and what was happening etc... He sort of asked in a direct way how players can help these nations. My basic response was, look contact them and ask. Somtimes it can be as easy as just doing a coaching clinic or just turn up to a game where they can use some sort of promotion. Well I mentioned what I do and this website and then found out he actually keeps track of some of the forums and what people say. He was shrewed enough not to give out his posting name. Anyway I was surprised when he asked for my email and the website and so I put it in his PDA. I mentioned the forum and said that he can get quite a bit of info from people here as we have several posters from around the world and countries on here. I also asked him if he ever wanted to share a view and post occasionally on here he is more than welcome. So we shall see what comes of that. I hope he does as its interesting to see the views of players from the other side... those who have involvement directly in the game. Again basically the first half I spent chatting with him. But appart from that... Toulouse a great city to hang out in, but not as "Beautiful" as say Prague or Krakow or Carcassonne even... Carcassonne wow, what a fantatsic city, Not huge, about 50,000 I'd say but its just alive, the markets were amazing, I saw fruit and vegetables I have never seen in my life. I discovered the Croque Monsiour which basically is a egg soaked fried chees and Ham sandwich... with a coffee cant go wrong there for breakfast. I will have photos up later tonight/tomorrow.

Yeh well I got pissed on the weekend in the lively town of Rockhampton Sweriously though sounds like a good weekend trip, I've been thinking of making a trip to europe in 09 and I'd definatley consider some of your recomendations. I've heard Toulouse has the largest percentage of beautiful women of any city in the world, there and oslo in czech republic Good to hear about Casty and Greenshields, I'd like it if Clint could come on here, one of my favorite players.

Well we shall see if he does come on... he has ll the details.
Mate I reckon Riga in latvia has the most number of beautiful women. Though I do have to say some of the waitresses on the weekend in Toulouse were certainly ooh lah lah that's for sure!
I bet anywhere you go in Europe you will find some extraordinary women.
