its like we are terrified of blow outs... why is every other sport allowed to have them and not us? . blow outs are ok occasionally but in 3 years France have shiipped in over 150 points while scoring only 32. what other sport has the 3rd best team (who are at least 20-30 points worse than the 1st, 2nd placed teams) beats the 4th placed team by 40 points annually |

Yes,
I do hope they become more competitive soon. I dont know how long French fans will keep coming back to see their team get smashed. 7.5k isnt a bad crowd IMO. If they had of put up a good fight I imagine there may have been more return for the next game, but now im not sure.
But, they do have to start somewhere. Theyre not going to get better by playing Germany. The more big games they have the better it will be for them.
England will definately do better than the WC last year. IN their home country with the reforms they have put in I think they will be a tough team to beat.

Let's just hope they show a bit more in the 4N, I still can't understand why they play so badly with the team they have, 7 stars out or not their first half was the poorest half of football from one team I have ever seen. I got my RLW today and was reading an Article where a former French player was saying that they will "bleed french" and give 100% in this game and all I could think about was how disappointed he and people like him must be now.
The most frustrating thing is that now I hear Tony Smith wants a Overseas XVII game instead, I hope for the love of IRL that France do something in the 4N to crush this idea in it's early stages. I think if they can get a full strength side on the park they can do just that, although no matter how good their side is Goulding needs to get them to actually play.

But like I say mate IS the team that good? would Casty, Duport or Gossard get in Wigan or Hulls side? Im not sure they would. We saw at the WC without the Aussies in Catalans side the French players struggle to come up to the plate. Add to that those Catalans squad players are carrying 3-5 semi pros.................. the all nationalities is a crazy idea.
No,what is needed is regular tournaments for nations to compete against the best.
regular games will bring out the best players and improve team... its not rocket science.

Its not crazy if you put yourself in Tony Smiths shoes, he just wants better quality opposition so England arent outclassed when it comes to the big boys. Even with the IRL hat on its difficult to find any positives England get from tonking France. Other nationalitys would be counterproductive for a nation like France. shunting them so England can have a more competetive fixture would not help them in any way, and would not help the profile of the game around Europe. |
