sorry , just signed up for roosters membership this morning. looking at the draw i realised the warriors aren't playing in Sydney for the first 3 months of the NRL, excluding 1 game against the dogs which I never go to except last yr cos of hazems farewell. i then got a phone call from a mate who is a die hard roosters fan wanting me to join so thought might as well. thus i signed up for the package below the ultimate membership: anax8ageo.pressmart.com/SydneyRoosters/index.aspxlooks like ill be attending a fair few games this year if u include my North Sydney bears membership and my usual warriors in Sydney games. thank god i don't work weekends.

now all you need to do is sign up on a Manly membership Pft... yeah what eva! I have to say, I am impressed with the Hamilton crowd... 17,000 for a trial! Jeezus... that is good I have to say... I wonder what the stupor 14 crowd was for that area? Come on Dan we fill a very important role in the NRL a presence on the Northern Beaches (if we weren't there kids would be playing union) and also gives everyone a team to hate like Man U in the EPL.

I may not be a Manly fan but i will fight to keep them in the comp as I did for souths in 2000... all current teams are important... and so are any future teams. That is indeed true

THEY were hated as the premiership's Silvertails through the 1970s and '80s, and it seems football fans' dislike for Manly has not waned.
In an online poll on this website, 20 per cent of league fans voted Manly the team they just love to hate.
The Sea Eagles pipped the Roosters (18 per cent), the Bulldogs (13 per cent) and Melbourne (11 per cent).
"That's a badge of honour - we'll wear it with distinction," senior Manly official Peter Peters said. "It means we're on the right track."
Manly fans have constantly claimed they actually enjoy being hated and jeered by rival clubs.
Meanwhile, more than 60 per cent of fans believe Newcastle will be the team from last year's finals who will miss this season's playoffs.
And Parramatta's Nathan Hindmarsh has been voted the game's toughest player

haha I don't think so Dan
But it's true I love the reaction when people find out that I go for Manly. There's nothing more funny then watching people look at you in contempt when you walk down the street with a Manly jersey on.

This is getting worrying a few local (Warringah) councillors have felt the need to a) block the upgrades to Brookie b) and to impose a tax on Warringah to supposedly make up the cost of having the Eagles there
It's getting to the stage where if it does come to ahead Manly will have to do the unthinkable and move there games to the SFS or something. I wonder if these councillors have thought about the other effects if the Sea Eagles move away from Manly the local economy will suffer meaning another rate increase and thousands of people will be out of work and also who will use Brookie when the Sea Eagles move away.

What are they looking to do to Brooky? Yeah many of these councils actually have too much power and just bully people and companies. Here in Brisbane City Council, ig you leave your rubbish bin out ofr more than a day you get a $100 fine! WTF

Thank god for this bloke
"After this week you might be under the impression that Warringah Council subsidises the Manly Warriingah Sea Eagles.
In fact the Sea Eagles pay full commercial rates and cover all Brookvale Oval's operating expenses and I don't understand why some find the need to pit one sport against another or muddy the waters with talk of a levy for the Oval.
The community has a wonderful asset in Brookvale Oval which is a part of Brookvale Park. It is used by people all over the northern beaches. Many littlies aspire aspire to play on the hallowed turf affectionately known as 'Brookie'. So why all the fuss?
I suspect some are afraid of change or, heaven forbid, long term planning of the oval. Applications have just closed for a "Stakeholder Panel" which will oversee a consultation process on the future of Brookvale Oval. It is critical for the community to consider the long term future of this asset and indeed all our assets.
What is the Oval's potential and how can we increase its value and usage by the wider community? The Sea Eagles use Brooky for a fraction of the year and the rest of the time it's available for hire.
For years (and long before this Council was elected) , minimal money was spent on regular maintenance of the Oval. Now we are injecting some long overdue funding into this and other assets for the community's benefit. Brookie Oval should be the jewel of Brookvale. A hub to encourage small and medium business and to stimulate the local area. I am looking forward to to seeing what ideas come out of the consultation process.
We already have three levies. Enough already!
Let's be sensible and talk about getting the most of our existing assets, rather than mining our residents for more money.
I love a challenge and we will get this right in the end. We have to."
If the Mayor gets his way, Brookie Oval will indeed be a "Jewel in the Crown" for all Northern Beaches sporting enthusiasts and families.
But he has opposition within the Council.

Got this of a mate as well who was at last night's launch and is on the Manly Leagues Club Board.
Of particular interest were the appearances of Manly Mayor Jean Hay (for those that don’t know she is also the sister of Arko) and Warringah Mayor Michael Reagan.....plus a number of other Warringah councillors.
For locals you will appreciate the importance of this, for those who are out of town...there is a lot in the local press about certain sections of the local council being effectively “anti sea eagles”.
Mayor Hay was almost in tears in her support for the club and to quote Mayor Reagan “The nonsense from certain parts of my fellow councillors to relocate the Sea Eagles from Brookvale is complete Bullshit” fills me with a certain amount of confidence that the loony 3 are working alone.
This makes me so happy as a supporter of the mighty Eagles this has actually brought the club together and at the moment there is no reports of factional fighting within the club like last year (between the Delmege faction and Penn faction)

Good to hear.
I may not be a manly fan... but that is only the football... i do not want to see them fold or get relocated. They ARE important and integral to the comp where they are ... as are all the NRL teams.

By the sounds of it Manly have pulled something major in regards to membership for next season and possibly for the remainder of this year.
They have got a new membership manager, formerly from the Brisbane Lions (yes the AFL side). So hopefully we can build on this years effort.
So who knows we might be able to get more member's and compete with the likes of the Bulldogs, Saints and Rabbitohs ;D
