And what hope does PNG have in the world cup. Hopefully next WC they learn from their mistakes, 4 pools, 4 teams each pool.
Pool 1 Australia qualifier qualifier qualifier
Pool 2 New Zealand qualifier qualifier qualifier
Pool 3 England qualifier qualifier qualifier
Pool 4 France PNG qualifier qualifier
Top two in each pool go through. I see it as working and the international game will probably be more even come next World Cup so I believe 16 teams could work. The Top 3 would still dominate but other than that the competition would be rather fair.

TBF it was a very strong PMXIII side and PNG weren't full strength, they had atleast a few overseas players missing. I think 12 teams is the way to go for 2013, 4 pools of 3 or 3 pools of 4. Also I believe by 2013 France will be in with a good shot at the WC, they will most likely have 2 SL sides by then and I wouldn't be suprised if another French team is bidding for SL by 2012.

anyone no why Neville Costigan wouldn't have been chosen ? or did he simply not get picked ? Costigan has out his hand up for Aus and origin... he played this year in Origin and so that takes him out of running I think.

Full time PM XIII 54 D PNG 30 That aint a 1/2 bad score TBH. 30 points on a stromng ASus outfit with an understrength side is quite encouraging I think.

Costigan didn't play Origin this year, did he? And that doesn't seem to matter for the World Cup anyway. Hayne's playing for Fiji probably.

I got thinking last night.
Austrlaia have basically three games evey year that they know are on. ANZAC test PNG PMXIII Return NZ Test
Is there any scope for something like this in England. Say: mid season England v France test PMXIII or QueensXIII against say Russia/scotland/Wales/Ireland end of season test against France.
What you think?

I'd say Queens XIII vs. Ireland Scotland and Wales both have NL or SL teams so I see Ireland as the opportunity. Don't know why but I just like the idea of promoting their own development in Ireland like has been proposed rather than NL or SL teams so this could help gather interest for it.

I dont see the point in England A playing games personally most of the lads who play for England A dont have a chance of getting a jumper in the future, maybe under 23s would be better, but personally Ireland should be playing Scotland and we should be looking at a regualr fixture between France and Wales

Full time PM XIII 54 D PNG 30 not a bad effort, if the group game in the wc between the two finished as such I would be happy.

I definatley think the mid-year test against France should a permanent fixture on the international calender.
Also starting in 2010 I would like to see a 3 game series between England, France and Wales.
Any PMXIII or England A team should be touring the likes of Russia, Serbia and South Africa IMO. Although England A would probably kill all those team, maybe Under 23's like marv Suggested.

It would be the test team minus the players from the 3/4 teams in the playoffs. Imagine how good it would be, SL play offs on the Friday, Saturday the internationsl and sunday NL grand finals... or what ever order you'd want them. The International would always be played away to help support the sport in that country.

yes it is, just like the PMXIII is another name for an Aussie A team. It would be the test team minus the players from the 3/4 teams in the playoffs. which would not be our strongest side, therefore its an A team Dan. No matter how its bullshitted it up,
