?? Kite, Mason and Tupou all played in the Centenary Test. It's strange these three are in there but not Moimoi or Tuiaki; you'd think they wouldn't bother. I haven't seen the NZ squad yet but between Tonga and Samoan there's half to three quarters of it.

Regardless of the ring ins the islands squads are really competetive anyway, anyone who didnt think samoa would be NZb was kidding themselves from the start.

I agree beez I think the "deserters" should not be selected Mason and Kite played for Tonga in 2000 and hasnt suggested he wants to play for them since it seems strange.

9 players confirmed so far: Jason Bukuya (Cronulla Sharks), Aaron Groom (Canterbury Bulldogs), Darryl Millard (Canterbury Bulldogs) Wes Naiqama (Newcastle Knights), Ashton Sims (Brisbane Broncos), John Sutton (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Semi Tadulala (Bradford Bulls), Peni Tagive (West Tigers), Akuila Uate (Newcastle Knights). www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=96697ONLY 17 local players will be short-listed for the final trials for the Vodafone Fiji Bati in their bid for the Rugby League World Cup in Australia in October. The final trials for the Fiji Bati will be held in late September. Thirty overseas players will be shortlisted for the trials. Nine overseas-based players have already passed the criteria to be part of the final 23-member squad for the Fiji Bati RLWC team. Bradford Bulls winger Semi Tadulala heads the list of players already confirmed to don the Fiji Bati jumper. Tadulala is the lone player from the Super League competition played in the United Kingdom. The rest come from the National Rugby League (NRL) competition in Australia. They include Akuila Uate (Newcastle Knights), Waisale Naiqama (Newcastle Knights), Jason Bukuya (Cronulla Sharks), Ashton Sims (Brisbane Broncos), Ratu Peni Tagive (West Tigers), John Sutton (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Darryl Millard (Canterbury Bulldogs) and Aaron Groom (Canterbury Bulldogs). FNRL chairman Peni Musunamasi said these the overseas-based players had passed the final selection criteria due to the high status of the competition they were playing in. He said these players had confirmed their availability. "The final trials will either be held on September 28 or September 29," Musunamasi said. "There are many other players interested to don the Fiji Bati jumper from overseas. "Some of them are taking part in the Under-20 Toyota Cup competition in Australia. "Others are taking part in the Country League competition." Musunamasi said Fiji would field a strong team at the RLWC. He said Australia-based Max Ninness would help Jo Rabele mould the best combination. Fiji plays France on November 1.

Darryl Millard 4. Jayson Bukuya 5. Akuila Uate 6. 7. Aaron Groom 8. 9. 10. 11. Ashton Sims 12. Peni Tagive 13. John Sutton 14. 15. 16. 17. Fill in the rest... I know there are some out of position vbut they have alot of wingers and centres. Sounds like more overseas players will probably come forward. Hope they have 3,4,5 locals in their playing team for all games.

I think Fiji will be one of the most "genuine" out of the group stages Fiji v France should be the most authentic game of the groups they will go with lots of locals I think but these guys if comitted should give them a bit of backbone, there are a few guys kicking about the english NL's who are fijians
