great article in this months rugby league review dan. russia back to square one with a somewhat promising future due to grassroots developments. surely they will be stripped of their full membership in teh RLEF though. I think this puts them on par with the teams theyre competing with internationally this year. I think it will be quite a while before we see a Russian side capable of mixing it with the European Cup sides. OH cool its out... yeah its back to square one but in many respects that is a big step forward. It should be an interesting Euro shield this year I think. Any of my other articles get in? Haven't got my issue this yet. I assume its in the post.

There's an in depth feature in the latest RLWorld about the state of the game in Russia.
Pretty much Union 7's getting into olympics has sent RL back to square one. Very disappointing it got this point and hopefully RRL can recover. Klebanov is gone which is the one positive I suppose.
There seems to be multiple group vying for power now but the RLIF has appointed somebody to try and bring them all together which would be great. Hopefully they have the right man for the job and he can turn the game around in Russia. Also hints that the Dinamo millionare may be tempted back now Klebanov's reign is over which would be great so hopefully somthing comes of it.
Union is now pushing to be one of the big sports in Russia and the timing of qualifing for the World Cup was perfect from their point of view.

The Russian Rugby League is currently in quite a poor state.... A senior comp of 3 teams, all based around a small town 100kms west of Moscow, is hardly fantastic. Junior development is at its barest, with it also revolving around this small town. Coaches in charge of Junior Clubs, basically get paid to take their teams to Rugby Union, where organised competitions are run in all age groups. There is a move afoot to improve matters....but I'm not in a position to announce anything as yet. Thanks
