i dont think they will. once you pledge your allegence for a country you have to stay with that country 2 years. theres only one event that can get good NRL or super league players to do this and in my opinion thats the world cup.

Maybe not this year, but next year they will since its a 4N qualifier. Only in RL can you have players switching from nation to nation year in and out... *shakes head*

I think 3rd would be fantastic, 5th I'll go with, although depends on the teams Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Lebanon field, if they leave out some of NRL and SL players then maybe Russia could be up as high as 3rd or 4th. Ireland for the win.

So your saying Oliver Wilkes, Paul Jackson, Michael Platt, Jordan James, Tony Duggan, Luke Dyer, David Mills, Dave Halley, Damien Blanch, Pat Richards, Simon Finnigan, Kevin Henderson, Mick Nanyn etc etc wont play in teh Euro Cup, your having a laugh. They will be there, of course NRL boys like Tandy & Robertson wont, bute the Super League boys will play for the Celtic Nations, theyve all done it before and the majority if not all will do it again.

good point, i hope im proven wrong. i think the players who think theyre even a slim chance of playing for england or australia wont be turning out for the developing nations and thats who i had in mind. more high profile players.... although i admit im not the best person to judge the profile of ESL players like Simon Finnigan, Kevin Henderson, Mick Nanyn. i really hope damien blanch turns out for ireland again. he had a great world cup.

does anyone know if Akhmet Kamaldinov is still backing russian RL finacially? I think he pulled out a couple of years back mate. As for Russias chances in the comp, I think they will be second last behind Serbia, I kinda agree with Jim in that it depends on what side Lebanon feild but if they feild a side anything like the one that took Russia on in the WCQ then Russia are shafted. Ireland, Scotland and Wales will feild a healthy mix of locals and National league players, I would imagine that would be too much firepower for Russia and Serbia. In all honesty I hope Serbia beat Russia.

I just got word of invites for a U16 tournament that Vereya will be hosting from the 1-5 October this year. Estonia have confirmed that they will be attending.
So there seems to be some movement there.... plus now I have another contact to the russians... woooot.

Just read in RLW that Russia has a new person in charge of the RRL and a new board of business men with sporting backgrounds running the show. They have a focus on junior development and getting kids playing the game as early as 10 years old. Julia Bennison of the RLEF has helped organise the new structure. I have to say it all sounds very good to me. I just hope Klebanov doesn't take his team and leave now somebody has put him out of charge. Lokomotiv are still a great asset for RRL.
