been reading your blog on Manchester druz. u mentioned locomotive Moscow. have u heard anthing on them lately? also , do u know anything of ukraine domestic comp? From what I have heard they are playing both League and Union this year. As for the Ukies... its a small 4 team domestic comp from what I know based around Kharkiv but looking to expand in next couple years to other cities. Not much more than that sorry.

thanks u think russia will recover and league has a chance of gaining a foothold? I think it will, its too established to collapse just like that... it may have a bit more of an even distribution of winning teams now that Lokos been forced to give up the monopoly.

Full membership is only given to nations that are able to contribute financially into the RLIF. It was Australia, NZ, England, France and Russia... bow its only the first 4. Until other nations can step up financially they wont be "full members".

i would hope wales and lebanon would be on that list by the time the next world cup comes around. funny that both those teams missed the 08 wc. though they did lose out to complete heritage teams they i.e "australian scottish, australian samoan" etc. for the love of god bring back a freakn quota!!!!

TBF mate Lebanon would have been the same, they have an ever growing domestic scene but it still is only ametuer and after the quota was scrapped would have gone with very few if any locals. Wales would have been in a similar position in 2008 aswell. By 2013 Wales should be tilted towards mostly young welshman with some experienced heritage or residence players. The welsh lads are starting to come through not just with the Crusaders and Scorpions but with other SL clubs.

It would be a real blow if they can't get something sorted out with RL in Russia, particularly as union is growing over there. Fingers crossed this isn't the end.

great article in this months rugby league review dan. russia back to square one with a somewhat promising future due to grassroots developments. surely they will be stripped of their full membership in teh RLEF though. I think this puts them on par with the teams theyre competing with internationally this year. I think it will be quite a while before we see a Russian side capable of mixing it with the European Cup sides.
