what has been your impression of this years University championships. What are the studnets coming up through the ranks like and are there any likely to make the grade and rep the national side?
How do you find the competition over all?

This years University League is huge step ahead comparing with the first one. Organization with 5 teams, their own directorium of league an a lot of newcomers is big step forward. Serbian RL board was involved in just finest details and with disciplinary and referees committee.
Playing standard is also better than in 2008. They still have a lot to learn, on the both tactical and technical level, and their fitness have to improve much, if they think to confront other national sides on students competitions.
Students team in national championships will be more competitive this year, even vs Dorcol and Podbara. Personally, I think that they'll jump over at least Red Star on the ladder this year, but we'll see. They still need proper coaching, because their coaches are mostly their most experienced players, with just one who was Serbian international in Med Cups and RLWC qualifiers.
One of the players from Belgrade University already played in full national team. His debut was in Lebanon in Euro Med Challenge. Two other students were in the team which toured in
France in spring 2008 (games v Morocco and French low league side), but that was not full national team.
It is hard to expect that some amount of them will now enter Serbian national team, I hope this one boy will stay fit to be candidate for European Cup, and maybe few of them can join the squad to feel the atmosphere.
Anyway, students go the good way and I hope that a lot of them will stay in RL after graduation.

FAK XIII, as we knew the last weekend retained their title, but won their arch-rivals FPN XIII with no calculations. The second match saw very tense game between newcomers PF XIII and SF XIII. At the end, experienced Law Faculty students won with dying minute penalty conversion. Students are now gathering in Belgrade University XIII and continue their playing season through this team.
