I think ti will be interesting to see what crowds some games get, we are a week out and I really don't know what to expect. I've heard Melbourne is expected to sell out and the Opening ceremony has sold 36,000 tickets but not much else really. Here's what I'm thinking the crowds will be close to, some may be a bit optimistic... but I think most people will expect that . ENG V PNG - Townsville - 18,000 FRA V SCT - Canberra - 14,000 AUS V NZL - Sydney - 45,000 SOIRL V TNG - Parramatta - 11,000 TGN V SAM - Penrith - 20,000 SOFJI V FRA - Wollongong - 15,000 PNG V NZL - Gold Coast - 18,000 AUS V ENG - Melbourne - 55,000 SOIRL V SAM - Parramatta - 12,000 SCT V FJI - Gosford - 12,000 ENG V NZL - Newcastle - 20,000 PNG V AUS - Townsville - 25,000 SORankings - Penrith - 8,000 Rankings - Rocky - 8,000 SOSFQ - Gold Coast - 22,000 Semi - Brisbane - 50,000 Semi - Sydney - 45,000 SOFinal - Brisbane - 52,500 SO

That is way off no one should expect them crowds.

I think you might be suprised, I think some fairly good walk-up crowds to places lik Gosford, Canberra, Parra etc may be on, especially since most will be craving more live games. I read ticket updates elsewghere a few months ago and most of these game were already into 2-3-4,000 sold.

I honestly dont know myself and im not concentrating on the crowds, there will be millions of other people wanting to do that, as long as they are respectable and the RL served up is good quality then thats all we can ask for
Maybe your estimates are a bit over- exaggerated but I think some wont be too far off the mark

If we have 4 reasonably close games on the weekend with good crowds there won't be much amunition for journalists wanting to rubbish the Cup. If we have 4 large scorelines and porr crowds we could be in for a long week. Although it looks like the OC will get 40,000 atleast so that is a great start, townsville are league mad and should get atleast 15,000. The other 2 are hard to predict, atleast the Ireland game will have over 3000 irish supporters in Green wigs representing the Blarney Army ;D Oh and just off topic a bit here but someone was talking about Guissert's accent a while ago, I heard him today and for the first few seconds he sounded completely Aussie then the French kicked in. If Wayne Kerr is the funniest name in the WC than Guisset has the funniest accent.

How many does the SFS officially hold?
And who/what can we expect from the opening ceremony?

If we have 4 large scorelines and porr crowds we could be in for a long week. I dont think we will ever silence the Nay sayers myself jim, what ever happens there will be peole bagging this comp, we have seen what the genereal feeling is in the media in Aus, as for the media in the UK well you wouldnt know there was a cup on I think a lot of people are getting over protective and over exited about things, I'm just hoping to see some good rugby, good tries and I dont mind what the crowds are, those people who expect 10k plus for games like Ireland v Tonga are setting themselves up for disapointment, I dont want to do that, I want to focus on what we should all be focusing on, PNG v England, Australia V New Zealand, France V Scotland and Tonga V Ireland. Although it looks like the OC will get 40,000 atleast so that is a great start, townsville are league mad and should get atleast 15,000. The other 2 are hard to predict, atleast the Ireland game will have over 3000 irish supporters in Green wigs representing the Blarney Army ;D There is a thread on LU jim where some guys seems to know the numbers sold, you probly seen it but ill dig it out..... courtesy of Yakstorm on LU... like you say mate, hard to predict crowds, especially with the legendary RL walk up crowd, but we can be pretty sure the big games will be looking at good crowds. Oh and just off topic a bit here but someone was talking about Guissert's accent a while ago, I heard him today and for the first few seconds he sounded completely Aussie then the French kicked in. If Wayne Kerr is the funniest name in the WC than Guisset has the funniest accent. Its a hilarious accent, after playing at wigan and warrington it used to have a bit of Lancashire thrown in for good mesure, he moved to Australia when he was about 15 and stayed for a while so i just guess he picked up the aussie twang to his english, funniest thing about it is my Misses thinks he sounds fit!!

I'm not too worried about crowd numbers - as long as I'm at the games!
There will always be negative press but the game has and will survive.

The game at Parra tonight looked shocking first up but it filled out a bit as the game went on. I think about 7-8k by the looks, alot of Tongan and Irish supporters too.

Games between the big 3 should get 20000+
5 figures for the other games would be great - anything in excess of 6000 for the minor teams in groups B & C (ie Scotland & Ireland) would be ok.
Full house for the final is a must.

Ive been happy with the crowds so far,
The game at parra definately grew as the game went on. I hear theyre expecting a big crowd to the Aus V Eng game this Sunday at Melbourne, ive heard around 40000. If they get a figure around that mark I will be very happy, as Melbourne is AFL mad.
