OK so I have gone England/France 12. Ofcourse that is depending on the sucess of Catalans and Toulouse over the 5 years. By 2012 I dare say Toulouse will have a franchise, whether it comes next year or 2012. CC should also be there.
From what i have heard USA, England and France have all bid for the cup, which is pretty much penciled in for 2013, i don't think it has been officially announced though.
For mine if Catalans and/or Toulouse can break the 10k barrier by 2011 France should get a few games for the 2013 WC.
So I went the extra effort and did up what my schedule would look like. Also have to give druzik credit for his idea of including the next best 4 (13-16) in a 8 team knockout comp that includes the 4 who miss out on finals at the WC. Pools are just guesses (pretty much random) and ofcourse could be different. OK so here I go:
Pool A Pool B Pool C Pool D England France Australia NZ Ireland USA Wales Lebanon PNG Scotland Fiji South Africa
Pool Games ENG V PNG @ Manchester, England FRA V SCO @ Lyon, France WAL V FJI @ Sheffield, England NZL V SAF @ Bradford, England IRL V PNG @ Hull, England USA V SCO @ Perpignan, France AUS V FJI @ Wigan, England LEB V SAF @ Huddersfield, England FRA V USA @ Toulouse, France NZL V LEB @ Liverpool, England WAL V AUS @ Cardiff, Wales ENG V IRL @ Leeds, England
OK, so I'll say England, PNG, FRA, USA, AUS, WAL, NZL and SAF go through and the 4 next level teams are Samoa, Tonga, Russia and Germany.
Quarters (Both Levels) ENG V USA @ Manchester, England SCT V SAM / AUS V SAF @ Leeds, England LEB V TGA / FRA V PNG @ Lyon, France IRL V RUS / NZL V WAL @ Birmingham, England FJI V GER /
Semi's (Both Levels) ENG V AUS @ London, England SCT V LEB / FRA V NZL @ Paris, France IRL V GER /
3rd Place Play-Offs AUS V NZL @ Manchester, England LEB V GER /
Grand Final ENG V FRA @ London, England SCT V IRL /

Jim great effort, my stuff has basically been just to think up of the tournament ideas etc... nice work on the schedule.
Look if your gonna have two comps then the second tier one should be an 8 team comp with top 4 going to the QF with the WC non qualifiers.
So over all if its going to be like this then I think have an England+france RLWC+RLIFC with 12/8=20 team format.
BTW you said you wnt for England(UK)/France but the vote is just for england?
So me England/France 20 teams (which will be about 1/2 the teams in 2013 at present growth and consolidation rate)

OK so I HAD to go with 16 teams. Also noticed with your schedule you didn't have Aus winnin it you cheeky devil. Also is there really any worth in having a 3/4 play off?

So you think we will be ready for a 16 team comp come 2013? I don't know i'll probably play on the safe side and go 12, also changed my vote, thanks for the heads up. I hope by the time the 2013 WC rolls around we have 5 or 6 or 7 teams that can realistically win. Is there a need for 3rd place? I suppose not, overall though the soccer and RUWC cups have them and It is extra money that goes to the RLIF. Also though I'd better put the hosts into the GF No matter where this WC is I will be there. I would absoolutely love for it be in the USA but that is unlikely. Will still be happy with a trip to england though, I met a few boys that came over on a player exchange the last 2 years and will be nice to catch up, 1 of them will be playing SL by then I would say so he may be in the WC, may be able to get me face to face with the england team He is playing wakey academy ATM, also is the reigning england under 18 5/8.

So as I said its a 12 team WC with 8 teams in the lower tier. I do think by 2013 we will be at that stage. The games will be fairly even I would say. Lets hope by then we have 6-8 strong teams so that the 1/4 will be exciting.
Yes hosts are in defo as automatic.

I agree with you, by 2013 I think we will have atleast 6 teams that can push for a decent challenge on the WC. I would say England, NZ, PNG, France, Australia and Wales, also if the AMNRL continues to go well maybe even USA. Ireland and Scotland will be competitive, a few other may stand up like Russia, Lebanon, Germany, Czech Republic, South Africa, still i think they are a fair way off yet. 2017 WC for USA!

England 10 teams. Why have joint hosting? France can host their own world cup in 2017. Personally I think only 4 teams can host the world cups, if you have England/France you only have 3.
10 teams is a good amount. I would also like the same format excpet that the winners of the non super pools play the teams 3rd and 4th in the super groups. I don't think dramatically changing the format benefits anyone. We also can't let everyone into the world cup, their should be some honour to do with it. In 2017 we sould be able to expand to 12 teams.

By 2017 hopfully France will be able to host a sucessful RLWC. I still think If it is held in England and Wales qualify, give them a home game or 2, maybe even scotland or ireland aswell. 2021 hopefully we will have alot more options for the WC. USA, Russia, South Africa? I'm not sure NZ could currently host a WC. I think the best way to test NZ would be to give them a 4 or 5 nations tournament and host all new zealand and non-australia game in NZ. Then hold australian games at home. Team 1 V Team 2 - Venue, City, Capacity New Zealand V Australia - Eden Park, Auckland, 45,500 England V PNG - Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, 27,500 New Zealand V France - Westpack Stadium, Wellington, 36,000 Australia V PNG - Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, 52,500 England V France - Mt. Smart Stadium, Auckland, 35,000 New Zealand V PNG - Rotorua Int. Stadium, Rotorua, 35,000 Australia V England - Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney, 45,000 PNG V France - Carisbrook, Dunedin, 30,000 New Zealand V England - AMI Stadium, Christchurch, 36,500 Australia V France - Teltra Dome, Melbourne, 56,500 Final - Eden Park - Auckland, 45,000

Am I missing somethink www.englandrl.co.uk/long_game.phpThis is on the new england site and it's sounds like it's set in stone the way the article reads. By the sound of that the WC is confirmed for 2013 and the way i read it sounds as if Wales, Ireland and/or scotland will get game/s. It doesn't say WC in england but WC in UK. Also 2017 WC in southern hemisphere, so sounds like it is most probably coming back to Australia, maybe Australia/NZ or maybe just NZ. What other options does the southern hemisphere have? South Africa, South America and south Asia, I doubt it will be held in any of those areas, I would love to see it held in South Africa but I doubt there will be enough popularity for League there by then.

Although no official announcement has been made AFAIAO 2013 is set in stone. Though I am not sure how I feel about there being only a Euro nations. What abourt Pacific nations and Atlanric nations cups... or are they just refering to the UK?
The thing with RL... nothing is ever set in stone.
But at least it looks like there will be some more regular games comming the way of nations. Good to see that.

So I still remain hopefull of atlantic and pacific comps.

Yep lets be optimistic! Hey that means Germany have a Euro cup to aim for, I know in 10 years they have been talking about being involved in WC qualifiers.

It could happen, Simon Cooper is setting realistic goals for RLD, if they were to aim for 12/13 and not make it there would be egg on their face, this way if they do make it it is a nice thing saying that development has been better than expected. In Coops we trust.
