Havent heard of any trial matches this year yet. The new jerseys are pretty good, I think you can get the new ones from Kukri. However I have the old style cotton ones with the world record breaking teams signatures on it.

the sharks played in france in 2008? No its all the ex-sharks players who were plying their trade in the French Elite 1 chmapionships at the time. Chris Beattie, Jay Mallone, Paul Franze, Dean Bosnich. Yeah I want to, but frames are expensive... I also have a Samoan Pacific Nations cap with the signatures of the Samoan Team and management. Kicking myself I didn't get the Cook Is team though.

The first event of the year for Rugby League Deutschland, took place at the weekend in Hochspeyer near Kaiserslautern. The Rugby League Educational Day was a big success in so many ways. Over 40 players from across Germany as well as German National Captain, Kris Keinhorst, attended the event, Despite the weather and change of venue at such late notice. National Trainer Dan Stocks took charge of the event, helping people new to Rugby League, understand the game better, as well as helping them develop the key basic core Rugby skills of passing and tackling. Players were also helped to develop their understanding of the rules and some tactics of the game. Paul Szehofner from the RFL alongside Bob Doughton who is the National Team Assistant Trainer and Uwe Jansen, The Development Officer for Rugby League Deutschland added to the quality educational sessions held during the day. Further Regional Educational Sessions are planned in the Summer as more and more people are wanting to learn and play Rugby League in Germany. Rugby League is a simply game to play in, yet the basic core skills, that make it one of the most exciting sports in the world need to be worked on regularly.

The 2nd Scandinavian 9s took place in Gothenburg on Saturday. On a cold day, 3 Swedish team (Spartacus Gothenburg RK , Vanersborg RK , Boras RK), 2 Norwegian teams (Oslo RK , Lillestrom Lions) and 1 team from Germany (Team Alpenstoff) put on a great show and the event followed on from last years success in Oslo.
The first game up saw Team Alpenstoff just have enough power to overcome a spirited Vanersborg team to take a 20-16 win to go top of Group A. Team Alpenstoff narrowly beat Oslo RK 16-14 to book a place in the final. Kiel Jaeger, Justin Carter, Christian Gabriel and Thomas Isaak playing big roles in the narrow win. The final game In the final game from Group A Vanersborg RK narrowly beating the Oslo team 10-8.
Who would join Team Alpenstoff in the final? The first game in Group B saw Home club Spartacus, having a couple of players with League experience, beat fellow Swedes Boras RK 28-12. And put down a marker as the team to beat. A thrilling draw in the next game from Group B, featuring Lillestrom Lions and Boras RK, had the crowd on their feet. The final game saw Spartacus blew Lillestrom Lions away with another top performance winning 24-4 to book a place in the final.
The final witnessed the game of the day. Team Alpenstoff scored first, but then a brace of tries gave the Swedish team the lead. With both teams strong in defence, chances were few. With seconds to go and Spartacus looking like they would take home the Cup, Kiel Jaeger produced a piece of magic to slip a pass to Justin Carter to go over on the hooter. The final score was team Alpenstoff 12 Spartacus Gothenburg RK 8.
Isaac Schmidt (Lillestrom Lions) was voted player of the 9s Event. For Team Alpenstoff, 19 year old Thomas Isaak was voted player of the event. At 1,99metres and weighing 115 Kgs, he set a good platform for Team Alpenstoff to get the ball out to the backs.

Rugby League Deutschland is set to become an official legal body in Germany in the summer of 2010. At the moment, due to German law, Rugby League Deutschland will become a e.V-that means a club. It cant become an official Verband (Federation) until it has so many members and is active in a number of states. Currently Rugby League is played in 4 States from the 16 States of Germany. The Paperwork has been signed and so its now just waiting for all the Red tape to be sorted by the legal people. This hopefully will be sorted and we get to become an e.V (Club) in the Summer, sometime. German Law states that a minimum of 7 people must be on a board. And that 3 People-usually President, Vice President and treasurer are legally liable for all things. So if any money is missing or the e.V abuses its trust etc, then these 3 people would go to court and face prison! By German Law, each meeting taking place must be noted and minutes sent to the Government people. Also each year, financial records must be shown. You cant just set up a club or federation like in the UK. And it does not matter that it is an amateur club or Professional club, this is the way things must happen in Germany. What this means is that we can now have our own Tax Code for example. So it makes it easier to get a sponsor for example. It hopefully will help us to become part of the Landersport Federation in some states in time. However this is not easy and the rules keep changing, making it very hard for new Sports like Rugby League, Cricket, Australian Football to get in. What can also happen is that say a Rugby League Club like Calbach Raccoons or a Rugby League State team like Blau Weiss Bayern, as well as themselves be an e.V, can also become members of the Rugby League Deutschland e.V, as well as individuals. However this means still that it is very hard for Rugby League Deutschland to get any money from the State or from the Government in Berlin. To get funding, a Sport often needs to be part of the DOSB (German Olympic Committee) or part of a State Sports Federation. So Rugby Union is now an Olympic Sport, it is part of the DOSB and gets a lot of money-despite the fact that it is unlikely any German team will play Rugby 7s at the Olympic games itself! It also means students, who are part of a U21s or U18s get Uni fees payed for and the Army will hep sponsor individuals. Most of the Winter Sports athletes in Germany, are part of the Army, who provide them with top facilities to train at. Rugby Union has been for around a century or more in some states like Baden Württemberg and NRW. They have been members fof the State Sports federation and so can get money and other benefits. However Rugby Union in Bavaria has not much history and due to not meeting the requirements, is not part of the Bavarian Sports federation. So Rugby Union in Bavaria receives no money or benefits from the State here. The Big Sports like Soccer, Handball, Basketball, Skiing, Ice Hockey etc control the State Sports Federations andkeep making it harder for new or smaller sports to get in. They do this so they get more money and do not have to share facilities etc.
