2010 Season-Player preview
The PBR Philadelphia Fight has secured the services of another group of Australian players for the 2010 season. Nathan Roach, Michael Princic & Nick O'Connor hail from the Illawarra competition in NSW, just south of Sydney. All 3 have played together for numerous years which will provide a very stable environment for the visiting players. The knowledge of each others play along with the combination of skills these players bring to the Fight adds strength, penetration and sharpness to the team. Nathan, originally from New Zealand, is a tall, rangy center with plenty of second-row experience and will provide penetration on the fringe of the ruck and out wide giving plenty of opportunity to our speedy wing men, veteran Patrick Cox, wiry Matt Worthington & the diminutive but hard to handle Jared Frymoyer.
Michael Princic will take on the commanding half-back role. He's cagey, tough approach to play will give the Fight clear direction getting around the field and will combine well with our in-house Aussie Joel Beasley. As far as props go, Nick O'Connor doesn't come with a lot of height, but his bulky, thick frame will be a tower of strength in setting the framework for our forwards and established props, James Coleman and Joe Bascelli.
Another Aussie prop/second row is also coming to town to pay the Fight a visit this year. James Perry, brother of Newcastle Knights and Manly Sea Eagles prop, Josh Perry, has played most of his Rugby League in the Newcastle competition. A big robust player, James will rotate under the AMNRL import rule with the other Aussie's, giving another dimension to our forward pack.
The PBR Fight also welcome 4 experienced players who have come over from the Bucks County Sharks. Stephen Thompson, Phil Shipos, Zach Padgett and Mike McKenzie will add further strength to our core team. There is plenty of Rugby League quality in these guys & they have already shown their commitment and desire to succeed at the Fight in their pre-season skills and preparation.
With all of this exciting news, our loyal fans and the Fight's other tried and true performers, Dave 'PFC'Wilmore, Brad Kielinski, brothers Rich and Joe Henson, Ryan Tower, the excitable and determined Pat Kelly, last years most improved Pat Quirk, fitness guru 'Johnno' Evangelista and Andrew Tully will be looking forward to a very competitive and successful year.
Any of these import names ring any bells with you Aussies?
