www.canadarugbyleague.com/news/article.php?id=10007Canada’s National Team to be known as ‘Mounties’ The newly formed Canada Rugby League national representative team now has an identity after CRL officials decided to adopt the mokier ‘Mounties’ for the senior representative side. Moving away from the old nickname of Cougars, Canada Rugby League feel the new name will be more easily recognised as being associated with Canada, and will go a long way in helping establish the team in Canadian culture. Mounties has long been a traditional and proud piece of Canadian history and it is hoped that the new looked representative teams will reflect the professionalism, determination and hard working ethics associated with the Mounties. The first Mounties selection team will play in the AMNRL’s ‘War at the Shore’ tournament in New Jersey on July 31.
