I hear the Elite two team from Montpellier is looking for promotion to Elite 1 next season. Can only be good for both them and Elite which needs more teams.
Not sure what they bring in terms of crowds and player standard.
Best of luck to them, hopefully a few more follow Lyon, Albi and Paris being the first that come to mind.
Also Toulouse should be entering a 2nds team next year.

Yes this has been their goal for a few years. back in 2007 I remember people wanting to push them up then, but they decided to stay down to get their finances and hunior base set up properly... seems they have got there and are ready. Great news Jim. Do you have a source for where you read it?

Great news Jim. Do you have a source for where you read it? Read it on a couple of forums both from French posters and a quote from the Montpellier chairman. On the weekend they convincingly beat the 2nd placed team in Elite 2 so hopefully they can make the step up next season as planned. Hopefully Catalans get the go ahead for a game there next year to help them out a bit.

Cool.
In France the step up the divisions tends not to be based on results but weather a team can actually make it financially... its why the P&R is so sporadic in that place.
