So it looks like the Challenge Cup will be taken off the revised list of events that have to be offered for broadcast on free to air TV in the UK when the new list of protected events is announced tomorrow.
Although no-one is suggesting that the BBC is going to drop it's coverage of the Cup when its contract with the RFL runs out (after the 2011 season I believe, might have to check that), it's still a bit concerning that there might be even less live rugby league on terrestrial TV.
The list of protected events includes things like the FA Cup final, the Grand National, Olympic Games, etc.
I just thought I'd put this out there, see what everyone elses thoughts are on this?

It would be a tragedy... but what do you expect from old Aunty. She's run by the Union numpties and they despise League because its a better code... they do what they can to put it down. Then again, with so many people with Pay TV in the UK and SKY then it may not be as bad as it seems... But I always feel there needs to be some sort of FTA coverage.
