Hotels of Jacksonville.com has stepped up big in becoming the Title Sponsor for the November 14 International Rugby League game that is being held in Jacksonville.
The national teams of the USA and Jamaica will spend three days in the North Florida city for a training camp and full international Rugby League game at Hodges Stadium at UNF.
The game now has an official name that will also give it a Jacksonville identity anywhere in the world.
The “Hotels of Jacksonville.com Rugby League Atlantic Cup. USA vs. Jamaica 2009”
The partnership has been defined as a “huge deal” by event organizers not only for quality team accommodations but in showing both the USA and Jamaican teams as well as the International Rugby League community that Jacksonville and its businesses are ready and willing to support all events that come to the city. The Jacksonville Axemen who are acting as the hosts and coordinators for this event are well aware that they are being watched very closely by many Rugby League organizations from around the world. They also know that the success of this event from every aspect of fan support, sponsor support, venue, team experience and over all event management will play a huge part in deciding if future larger international games can be held in North Florida. The commitment from the Hotels of Jacksonville group goes a long way in checking off a number of these items. Both teams will be hosted at the new Holiday Inn Express on Beach Blvd that will provide high quality accommodations and all the amenities that they need during their stay and the location is perfect for access to UNF as well as being close to the Beaches and other social outings for the players during their downtime.
Axemen Spokesman Spinner Howland said, “This deal is not only huge for the teams but for the event as a whole. Drew Slover who is the co-owner of the Axemen was instrumental in securing the partnership and commented on the effect it will have. “Securing a partnership like this proves that Jacksonville is starting to notice the impact that Rugby League is having on the city. We have hosted a few large events over the last three years and this deal goes a long way in confirming our feelings that Jacksonville is not only a great geographical location but also ready to get behind the sport and show the world that we are ready to be added to the list of global options for venues.”
