A Brand new AdventureJune 10th, 2010 By Morgan MartinThis week Morgan Martin from the Carluke Tigers is a guest blogger. Morgan recently debuted for Scotland A and has been kind enough to share his experiences and thoughts of the day. I first met Morgan in 2008 actually when his first international match was with the Euro Celts against Germany in bad Reichenhall. Little did I know that that weekend I was having lunch and beers with a future Scotland International! Read more...

For Once Lets Think Outside of the BoxJune 12th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykLast week Steve Mascord broke the news that the Samoan Rugby League have approached the RLIF about hosting an international 9s competition. Steve also mentioned that the RLIF are thinking of having and international circuit like in the Union 7s but that the NRL and ESL clubs releasing players was the big issue. I just shook my head at this. Steve even you should have seen how we can do this outside of the regular box! So here are my thoughts on this proposal. Read more...

It’s time to go…June 17th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykQueensland have won an unprecedented 5 straight Origin series, but what does this mean for the whole concept? Yes, yes, I know that I have been calling for Origin to be abolished in its current form for a while now. But this post is one with a twist on this theme. How you may ask, well its simple the age old rugby league attitude to teams that keep winning series upon series upon series. With QLD having won five series in a row now and looks like it may get 6 and 7 even will the age old Rugby League attitude kick in towards State of Origin? Read more...

The 12 Year Master PlanJune 23rd, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykThe latest blog comes on the back of a discussion I had with a avid rugby league fan in New Zealand. Its also a re-vamp of last years series of blogs on the 4 ways to fix International Rugby League. Originally I did this back in 2007 before the World Cup where there was a 10 year plan, it was in answer to what Richard Lewis and the “RLIF” had announced at the time with the lead up to the 2013 Rugby League world cup. Now with the current plan having run half way through its cycle, there is still no real idea on what is beyond 2013. Well, if I were in charge of the RLIF here is what I would do: Read more...

How to Avoid Super League War 2June 25th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykSo has someone spiked the water in Australia or something? So first we get a leadership spill in the Australian government and then Stephen Humphrey’s comes up with what has to be one of the most bizarre and what I fee absurd proposed changes to Rugby League, I have ever read. Yes you read right the proposed changes to the NRL that the Wests Tigers boss want to introduce are a farce. They could lead to a new Super League War even. Let me try and show you how and why. This may be a long posts so bare with me please. Read more...

It is time to stop revolting?July 6th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykThis weekend apparently saw a “whole bunch of average” games in the NRL. Well so it was claimed by several commentators on the radio. Apparently the play was terrible, the referees were terrible, it was stated that this has been the worst season in a long time in terms of quality rugby league and something needs to be done to “Fix it”? Um ha!? Since when did Rugby League, or any sport for that matter become purely an entertainment product? Read more...

Oh How Easy it is to forget HistoryJuly 12th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykI bought the other day the Australian Rugby Leagues “A Century of Rugby League” 4-DVD set. I watched it in great anticipation that I would get a great overview of not just Internationals and the NRL but Rugby League in Australia as a whole. I mean it is meant to be a century of the sport in Australia yes? So believe me that when I say I feel completely disappointed and robbed and I think the rest of Australia who really cares about Rugby League as a sport should feel this way too. Read more...

The Travellers and Food Lovers Guide to Rugby League – HeidelbergJuly 19th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykThe last several years I have had the fortunate opportunity to live and work overseas, namely in Germany. My passion for Rugby League found me travelling all over Europe to watch the greatest game and in one case even managed to participate in a tournament. So I have decided to write blogs on my experiences, the travel, food and cities I experienced and share some photos. This month I look at a place on peak of the rugby league frontiers, Heidelberg, in Germany. Read more...

England Jump on the BandwagonJuly 28th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykLast week England jumped on the Pacific Nation stealing band wagon. Willie Manu made himself available for England and he was embraced with open arms. But when you read the various articles on this you see a disturbing trend and attitude towards the English Jersey. Of course its not the first time England has done this, in fact from the home nations there have been other players that defected, or made themselves available. Read more...

This weekend the greatest show on EarthAugust 27th, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykThis weekend Rugby Leagues pinnacle in the domestic game comes to a close for another year. It comes to a close, but it will go out with such a bang that it makes the “spectacle” of State of Origin look like a high school production. Yes its that time of year again… Challenge Cup Final. So I thought I would share some of my memories and thoughts from when I went to the final in 2008 and some of the early round games. Read more...

Revamp of the Video RefSeptember 1st, 2010 By Daniel AndruczykSo I was thinking about the latest referee controversies and how things may be solved. So I have one possible idea, and am curious to see what people think and if they can find any holes in it. But first some round ups of results from around the world, where of course the Challenge Cup takes pride of place. Read more...
