Well, I guess we all agree on one thing, the eligibility rules are a joke, and I guess the players involved are just playing the cards they're dealt...
I do however have a softer stance on one issue though... our beloved sport of RL in no way has the playing numbers, player/country depth of other global sports like football, rugby and basketball... but then again that also makes it unique...
Having said that, I do feel there should be some extra flexibility given to the '2nd tier' nations eg Tonga, Samoa, Ireland etc... or in other words every other nation besides the big 3... cos I can't ever see any country winning the WC besides OZ, NZ... and maybe Eng... just can't see it...
If not, last years RLWC would not have been as exciting as it was.. eg most of the 'other' nations in the WC would not have had access to their stars had the rules been otherwise... certainly in Tonga & Samoa's case... all those ex Kiwi & Kangaroo's... I did see a few other NRL & ESL in some of the other nations too...
At the mo, I dont think RL has the numbers/depth to enforce stricter eligibility rules...
