Hey guys, Just wondering what the go is with players like Hayne who played for Fiji and other smaller island nations in the world cup. It is my understanding that they cant play for a different country for another two years?. Ive heard the boof heads on the footy show talking up whos going to be the Australian fullback between Hayne and Slater?. Im confused.

This is how I understand the rules:
A player may change allegiances but this cannot be done until two years after his last appearance for a national team or at the end of a World Cup period.
This means players who have represented a country this year are locked in until 2011. For anyone else (including Jarryd Hayne) they can do as they please.

so its a cycle system? a players elegibility restarts at the end of each world cup? hayne has shown interest in representing Fiji again if hes not picked for Australia. its pretty hard to see him not ebing picked for Australia though. Darious Boyd over Harryd Hayne....come on

now the world cup has been round, the cycle has been reset, so in theory nobody needs to wait for anything, Hayne is eligible for Aus, Platt and Brough for England, Mateo, Tuiaki and Moi Moi are eligible for everybody!

Tuiaki and Moi Moi are eligible for everybody! Last I heard they were looking to play for a newly formed RLIF member know as Fuiland. This nation is claiming to be a small island (about 3 square metres) about 50 metres off the coast of sydney the fui fui once swam to.

Actually, with Hayne having played for NSW this year doesn't that mean (according to the ARL) that he has to play for Australia & not Fiji.
The same reason Farah did not play for Lebanon & Mateo did not play for NSW in the past.
