Just wondering what sort of match coverage rugby league gets on TV around the world?
Here in New Zealand there were 12 matches on SkyTV (pay tv) this weekend:
All 8 NRL matches (7 live, sometimes all 8 live)
2 live NYC matches (sometimes only one match is shown)
Both Challenge Cup semis live (usually it's 2 live ESL mathches)
Prime TV (free-to-air) has a delayed NRL matches on Saturday & Sunday (a very late timeslot however)
2 matches on Maori TV (free-to-air):
2 delayed Auckland Fox Memorial matches (they will hopefully be showing games from the national comp once it starts too)
Also Te Reo channel (Maori TV channel broadcast solely in Te Reo Maori language) has delayed coverage of the same 2 Fox Memorial matches & 1 NRL match all with Maori commentary.
Seems fairly good for a country dominated by rugby union in the media. Is it possible to watch more than 2 ESL matches in England? or any NSW or Qld Cup games in Australia? Any other international or domestic league shown on TV anywhere else in the world?

Sounds like you have it good Steve  We have 2 games on 9 (FTA) on Friday night and one on Sunday 1 hour delay. They also show 2 delayed SL games, one at 2.30 sunday one at midnight. 9 plays Origin live. Fox (pay TV) show all other NRL games live and 2 Toyota Cup games. They also show a replay of a NSW Cup and QLD Cup game. ABC (FTA) play a QLD Cup game live in QLD and a NSW Cup game live in NSW. Big Internationals are on 9, the 4 Nations will be on 9 later this year, not too sure if it will be live though, last year the only WC game they played live was the final. I also heard a rumour they would play Pacific Cup games but nothing official and I'll beleive it when I see it. On 9 we have the Thursday Night and Sunday Footy show aswell as the sunday roast (about 4 hours worth of RL TV). On Fox we have Tactic and NRL on Fox whcih is another 2 hours of RL TV. On NITV (Pay TV) they play the odd Indigenous RL comps and have "the barefoot rugby league show" which is basically an indigenous version of the footy show. |

Yeah thats right Beez, I just catch it over the net usually, no sign of the new ESPN channel picking it up either.

Ngati NRL was available earlier in the year but is not currently showing, hopefully it will be back online once the new season shows. Hey Beez, I was watching an NRL highlight/discussion show the other morning called 40/20. I think thats a kiwi show.
Its not too bad, better than Boots and All!

Yeah 40/20 is SkyTV's weekly wrap show. I usually don't watch it as I'm not a fan of most of the Sky commentators (Ropati, Halligan, & Costigan) & we have full coverage & highlights of all games. NRL Tactics is the show I seem to watch the most, maybe because it has a good timeslot for me. I recently heard about an Aussie show called Barefoot Rugby League & found a link to it last night. Haven't had a chance to watch much but it looks a lot more interesting than the stuff produced by the major networks. barefoot.nitv.org.au/ |

maybe because it has a good timeslot for me. Yeah I always seem to catch 40/20 because Im up early with the kids on a saturday/sunday, havent a clue what time it actually airs in NZ. |

ABC (FTA) play a QLD Cup game live in QLD and a NSW Cup game live in NSW. We don't get a NSW Cup game. We get Shute Shield Rugby Union. |
