The rapid rise to fame of one of Leyland Warriors Rugby League players is even more amazing considering he was playing American football last year.
Phil Hammack, was the man of the match on Saturday for the Warriors win over Waterhead.
What makes his performances even more amazing was that he has only been playing the sport for a couple of months after a conversation in America with one of the Warriors current players Liam Cain.
The 19-year-old is currently studying at Leeds University and admits he prefers rugby league to American Football.
He said: "It all came about from talking to one of their players when he was doing summer camp in America.
"I said I was going over to England to study and he put me in touch with Neil Quinn the coach and I have been playing regularly this season.
"I am really enjoying it and I think it is better than American Football as in that sport you have to play to extreme levels for a short period and have a rest.
"But in rugby league there is no time to get a breather. You have to be back up on your line or they other team will notice gaps and exploit it.
"The one problem is that in America they do not take rugby as serious competition whereas here it is intense."
Hammack has been involved in the Warriors recent resurgence in their league form and they are hoping for a mid-table finish.
He said: "It has taken me time to adapt to the game but the rules are easy to understand and even though I may make a few mistakes you work harder next time.
"The Warriors have enjoyed a few good results and I really want it to
continue."
Leyland Warriors Open Age coach Quinn said: "Phil has got the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old and wants to get involved.''
