At last night's Hull City fans forum, which was broadcast live on Radio Humberside, the controversial topic of the Stadium Management Committee's (SMC) steadfast refusal to accomodate an international at the KC Stadium was put to the Hull City Chairman Paul Duffen.
"Have you been answering lots of letters this week from people who like to watch Rugby League?", Duffen was asked.
His incredulous reply was: "That cannot be true, because those people cannot write!"
Even the football-loving interviewer David Burns was stunned by Duffen's reply, saying "I cannot believe you have just said that Mr Chairman"!
Whether it was a cheap, throwaway, tongue-in-cheek comment matters not in my opinion. Duffen has insulted huge swathes of the City's population and the RL community at large, including thousands of his own club's fan base.
