The Kiwis celebrate winning the World Cup

WATCH the video (1:39) Call me a cynic, but when the Evers-Swindells took out the Halberg award for team of the year I felt cheated.

I thought for sure the judges would see sense and give the honour to the World Cup winning Kiwis.

Now don't get me wrong, I agree the Evers-Swindells have put in a mammoth effort to earn back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the double sculls.

But I don't believe you can compare that to the seemingly impossible feat of the Kiwis.

Written off by almost everyone going into the Rugby League World Cup, the Kiwis showed grit, determination and heart to beat Australia 34-20 in the final.

Let's put it into perspective - the win was the first time EVER New Zealand had won the World Cup.

I hate to bring up the rugby parallel, but think of what would have happened if the All Blacks had won the World Cup.

They would have been an automatic choice for a Halberg award, an deservedly so.

It's actually a difficult situation - while the Evers-Swindells are hardly a 'team' they don't fit into the individual category.

So while I'm happy the twins have been recognised for their dominance, I can't help feeling hard done by on behalf of all rugby league fans in New Zealand.

I want to know what you think on this subject.

Straight up bullshit e3l..The kiwis should've won that award,but unfortunately the judges thought that the twins were more deserving of it..I don't think they really took all things into consideration when they made their choice..In my opinion the kiwis effort to become world champions for the 1st time ever was greater than that of the Ever swindell twins..I'm proud as of the twins.....but i think the kiwis really did deserve the award...I even thought we should have got coach of the year too...I felt sorry for my old mate Steve.
I honestly think that there are some real anti league people on that halberg judging panel... FVgg dem all.
