No real surprises there with Auckland winning I guess.

No real surprises there with Auckland winning I guess. Didn't Auckland lose once or twice during the rounds?

All the regions finished their local comps in time to start the provincial comp except for Auckland, so they had players become available as the Fox Memorial and Vulcans seasons finished.
Canterbury went through unbeaten only to have the final scheduled in Auckland. Canterbury were the best team throughout the comp and were right in the final until about 50-60mins in when Auckland scored a number of times.
Waikato were the surprise of the comp and a win against Canterbury in the last round would of had them in the final. They led 16-8 at halftime but Canterbury were far too strong in the second half.
Wellington were pretty disappointing although a few of their top players were in the U18s who went through unbeaten (I was surprised they only won the final 29-22)
BOP showed some encouraging results and Taranaki looked out of their depth.
And with the NZRL, who knows what domestic plans they've got for next year. There were mixed opinions about this comp but I personally preferred the old Bartercard Cup although this provincial comp was a good reward the local club players.

I perfered the Bartercard cup as well. I found this harder to follow. Good news for Wellington going well in the age grades. I would have been suprised if Auckland had not won this. I hope the format is stuck with as you have to give things time and put effort into them.
