so the train on squads are out of the window, the first squad to be announced is a 23 man France squad with no Vincent Duport and no David Ferriol. 14 superleague players included with the 4 broncos trainees and the only player without first grade experience is Laurant Carcasso www.superleague.co.uk/article.php?id=11841Jerome Guisset (Catalans Dragons) Jean-Philippe Baile (Catalans Dragons) Remi Casty ( Catalans Dragons) Matthieu Grifi ( Catalans Dragons) Justin Murphy (Catalans Dragons) Sebastien Raguin (Catalans Dragons) John Wilson (Catalans Dragons) Dimitri Pelo (Catalans Dragons) Thomas Bosc (Catalans Dragons) Gregory Mounis (Catalans Dragons) Jamal Fakir (Catalans Dragons) Olivier Elima (Catalans Dragons) Julien Rinaldi (Harlequins) Eric Anselme (Leeds) Jared Taylor (Lezignan) James Wynne (Lezignan) Adel Fellous (Lezignan) Maxime Greseque (Pia) Teddy Sadaoui (Carcassonne) Christophe Moly (Carcassonne) Sebastien Planas (Toulouse) Laurent Carrasco (Villeneuve) Jean-Christophe Borlin (Saint-Gaudens)

Glad to see Jean Phillipe Baile in there, looks the goods to me and I was suprised when he wasn;t named in the 40 man train on squad. How come the French have jumped the gun on both ocassions? Looks like Taylor will be FB since Clayton isnt there, unless they plan to use someone out of position.

[Can't see any notable omisions besides Ferriol and Duport, surely atleast one of them will make it, unless they are injured? well dave ferriol is definatly injured and Duport has struggled with injurys all year so maybe the off season will do him good. Glad to see Jean Phillipe Baile in there, looks the goods to me and I was suprised when he wasn;t named in the 40 man train on squad. good reward for his hard work at the end of the year for the dragons. good on him How come the French have jumped the gun on both ocassions? Looks like Taylor will be FB since Clayton isnt there, unless they plan to use someone out of position. dunno why TBH mate as for taylor I would agree, only other option could be bosc

I should say three including Cryil Gossard. Also no Cyril Stacul. From what I hear Clayton and Taylor are ntohing special, what I would do is if France have a trial game try out either Murphy or Pelo at the back see what they can offer. Anyway from that squad I would go with: 1. Jared Taylor 2. Justin Murphy 3. John Wilson 4. Sebastien Raguin 5. Dimitri Pelo 6. Thomas Bosc 7. Maxime Greseque 8. Jerome Guisset 9. Julien Rinaldi 10. Oliver Elima 11. Eric Anselme 12. Jamal Fakir 13. Gregory Mounis 14. Jean-Philippe Baile 15. Remi Casty 16. Adel Fellous 17. Laurent Carrasco

I dont think they are anything special but i wouldnt be playing murph or pelo at the back personally 1. Jared Taylor 2. Justin Murphy 3. John Wilson 4. Sebastien Raguin 5. Dimitri Pelo 6. Laurent Carrasco it looks decent but I worry about someone for Rinaldi to take a break, he looked tired the last two times I saw france simply because he never puts 80 mins in.

no khattabi either(thank god) stacul maybe hasnt played enough and he is still young I don't think Khattabi is as bad as you say personally but no way is he more deserving than Murphy or Pelo, Pelo was a shining light in the loss to Wigan and Murphy is a quality winger. I dont think they are anything special but i wouldnt be playing murph or pelo at the back personally I reckon it would be worth a go, I didn't think Minichello was a fullback back in '02 when he was playing wing but the switch did wonders for his career. it looks decent but I worry about someone for Rinaldi to take a break, he looked tired the last two times I saw france simply because he never puts 80 mins in. Yeh good point, maybe move Wynne on to the bench so he can relieve Rinaldi.

Australian Squad
Terry Campese (Canberra Raiders), Petero Civoniceva (Penrith Panthers), Michael Crocker (Melbourne Storm), Craig Fitzgibbon (Sydney Roosters), Israel Folau (Melbourne Storm), Paul Gallen (Cronulla Sharks), Kurt Gidley (Newcastle Knights), Justin Hodges (Brisbane Broncos), Greg Inglis (Melbourne Storm), Brent Kite (Manly Sea Eagles) Anthony Laffranchi (Gold Coast Titans), Darren Lockyer (capt, Brisbane Broncos), Joel Monaghan (Canberra Raiders), Josh Perry (Manly Sea Eagles), Steve Price (NZ Warriors), Scott Prince (Gold Coast Titans), Billy Slater (Melbourne Storm), Cameron Smith (Melbourne Storm), Brett Stewart (Manly Sea Eagles), Glenn Stewart (Manly Sea Eagles), Brent Tate (NZ Warriors), Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys), Anthony Watmough (Manly Sea Eagles), David Williams (Manly Sea Eagles).
Few suprises with some of the players named and some not named. Karmichael Hunt is still IMO the best fullback in the NRL.

Suprising selections are Sa (Thought he was Injured), Manu and Kidwell. Still a pretty good side though. 1. Brent Webb 2. Krisnan Inu (swap around with centres and FB on ocassions) 3. Jerome Ropati 4. Steve Matai 5. Manu Vatuvei 6. Benji Marshall 7. Nathan Fien 8. Nathan Cayless 9. Isaac Luke 10. Jeff Lima 11. David Fa'alogo 12. Jeremy Smith 13. Simon Mannering 14. No surprises in the Kiwis for me.
Matai and Webb are in doubt with injuries (if one pulls out then watch this space for Wiki's name).
Sa and Soiola both need surgery but have delayed it until after the WC.
Maybe a bit early for Fai and Matulino (I hope they don't turn out for Samoa now as they will both play for NZ one day).
Kidwell had to be there for his experience and he always steps up when he pulls on the black jersey.
The Kiwis can definitely take down that Australian team. Not long now! ;D

I would have liked to see either Fai or Matulino in there even if they didn't get a start, would be a greate xperience. No doubt they will play for NZ though as early as next year I beleieve. Hopefully they both turn down Samoa. Glad to hear International RL coming first for Sa and Soliola, and Matai had the option aswell I believe. The way it should be! Kidwell hasn't been in great form but is one of those players who steps up every time he plays for country, others are Soliola and Halatau, not the best week-in, week-out for their clubs but always seem to play well for the kiwis.

Benji will be at 6 for the Kiwis and I'd go for Sa on the bench instead of either Hohaia or Halatau. And personally I'd like to see Kidwell in there but its unlikely. Crocker to start for Aussie with Gidley on the bench with any choice of forwards. I have no idea how Fitzgibbon made the squad, he was extremely lucky to make Origin.

Is that Fitzgibbon comment serious. I cannot believe you just said that. Brings experience and the truth is he puts in a hard game. More deserving to be there than some others.
