A know it's a little early and after the WC will be better but I thought I'd put mine for so far this year.
OK so here we go: 1. Billy Slater (Australia) 2. Ade Gardner (England) 3. Greg Inglis (Australia) 4. Brent Tate (Australia) 5. Israel Falou (Australia) 6. Thomas Bosc (France) 7. Scott Prince (Australia) 8. Roy Asotasi (New Zealand) 9. Cameron Smith (Australia) 10. Petero Civoniceva (Australia) 11. Sonny Bill Williams (New Zealand) 12. Jamie Peacock (England) 13. Simon Mannering (New Zealand) 14. James Roby (England) 15. Frank Pritchard (New Zealand) 16. Feleti Mateo (Tonga) 17. Sam Burgess (England)
IMO Price, Gasnier, Hosges and Lockyer havn't played enough to justify a position.
That was hard, especially the wing spot I gave to gardner.
I really think that would be the best so far taking injuries into account.
Australia - 7 England - 4 New Zealand - 4 France - 1 Tonga - 1

I would have maybe David Safranek (Czech Rep.)... he doesn't look like much but he seems to have anack for being in the right place at the right time to score points. He's played wing and centre for the Czechs. At 8 or 11 definitely get one of the serbians in there, those guys are great up front.

Well, Serbian candidates would be Dalibor Vukanovic (utility), Zoran Pesic (hooker), Soni Radovanovic (utility forward), Nenad Grbic (centre, wing), Radoslav Novakovic (prop, national team captain).
One thing has to be clear before choosing: are Aussie and UK-based players eligible for representing their nation in World XIII (non-WC) team. If they are, as for playing intl. games, then a lot of Greeks or even Maltese should be involved. For example, the boy named Kosta Kouparitsas, played for Greece in Students World Cup and v Serbia in Athens 2006, should be chosen for this team, and there are few of his compatriots in NRL and SuperLeague, too. In that case, I'm afraid, majority of the boys mentioned in previous posts wouldn't be even close to the team. If you try to base on emerging nations and players from their competitions or national teams in this year's European tournaments (for teams from Europe), then at least 3 out of 5 above writen Serbs should be in 17. Then, of course, de Gois wouldn't be there, no matter his unquestioned qualities as NRL player. Also, few more Russians should be there and few more Liban Espoir players.
