i was reading that fiji want lote tuquri to play for fiji in the pacific cup. the exposure to the tournament that this would bring would be great. it would go a long way to ensuring a television deal.

But Lote is not registered with any rugby league parties... he is still under contract in the Rugby Union in the Shute shield. Its only his Wallabies contract that was torn up... Lote is playing this weekend for union.

i wonder how long that would be for. if hes looking at a comeback to the nrl a club would probably sign him before the end of the year. he wants to play for fiji in the union world cup in a couple of years to help out fiji (or to just be in it) so he acknowleges his background. while a few things would have to come into place its not out of the question...

Josh Perry needs your help!! Manly Sea Eagles Friday, August 21, 2009
Josh is calling on all fans to help him support Fiji Rugby League by donating old football boots that will go to young adults and children in Fiji who otherwise would be playing barefoot...
"I saw first hand a few years back how much the Fijians love their Rugby League when visiting some villages but with all the civil unrest and poverty in their country footwear for playing sport is a luxury" Josh said.
"Would be great for Sea Eagles players and fans to join together and help people less fortunate than us, so bring your old boots to Brookvale Oval Sunday August 30 and go in the draw to win some great prizes on the day" A collection point will be set up the northern end of the ground for donations.

www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=136601Millard eyes BatiSunday, January 03, 2010RYAN Millard wants to don the Fiji Bati jumper again after making his debut in the national colours during the Pacific Cup last year. The Australian-based player whose mother is from Nayau in Lau, ultimately aims to earn a spot in the national side for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. "To play in the next world cup with the Bati would be the ultimate but to have my brother (Darryl) playing alongside would be something special," he said. "As my older brother, he has always been the one I look up to and seeing him play for Fiji made me try that little bit harder to play for Fiji as well." Millard, who is in the country to spend his holiday season alongside Bati, Kevin Naiqama, said his experience with the side was incredible. The former Newtown Jets (the feeder club for the Sydney Roosters) player said with the experience gained he hopes to play in the NRL competition this year. "I had a great six weeks and really hope I get to do it again. As long as I keep getting picked and I'm injury free I will always be available to play for Fiji," Millard said. "The experience as a Bati has given me a lot of confidence in my game, which will hopefully help me to really push for a start in the NRL (National Rugby League) this year. "It was a bit of an up and down year (2009) but finishing it off playing for Fiji was awesome. "I'm with the Dragons (Saint Illawara) this year in their NSW (New South Wales) Cup side so hopefully I can make their NRL side."
