ONLY three players named in the Vodafone Fiji Bati rugby league side for the match against the Australian Affiliated States team tonight at the National Stadium.
Skipper Jone Macilai, Kailova Tani and Sitiveni Logaivau all played for the Bati at the South Pacific Games last year.
Rising star Nasoni Yalayala is one of the new caps named inteam.
Yalayala, the Islands Electric Lautoka Crushers fullback, has been fine form recently in the Vodafone Cup competition.
He is among the leading try scorers in the Western Conference and also boasts a reliable right boot.
Fiji National Rugby League chairman Peni Musunamasi said the rest of the players were all new and it was an opportunity for them to stake a claim for the World Cup.
"This is an international match and it will be a good exposure for the players," Musunamasi said.
FNRL will use the match to gauge the level of preparations of the Bati squad members in anticipation of participating successfully at the Rugby League World Cup in Australia in October.
Saint George Illawarra Dragons four-member coaching staff of Kurt Wrigley (assistant coach), Max Ninness (skills coach), Scott Stewart (education/welfare officer) and Steve Price (U20 coach) have been working with the side.
The Fiji Bati team for the RLWC will be named on October 7.
Fiji is grouped with France and Scotland in Pool B for the Rugby League World Cup.
Match will kick off at 5pm.
