Hanley is coaching I think at Donncaster Ofiah is being linked with Wigan in a coaching capacity I think Betts I dont know Andy is involved in BARLA I think, Eric Czerwonka is trying to get him to help with Polish RL from what I understand. Connely I dont know Others I do know: Neil Harmon has his own caoching business (Marv we you met him at the Slaford v Western suburbs game ESL GF day, I introduced you two) he also does work with rugby league Deutschland. Garry schofield does some media work, They are all doing their bit, they just choose to do it behind the scenes and not make a fuss.

thats good to hear thought some might have takin up on 1 of the SL sides bit of a shame joe lydon and shaun edwards went to that other code I think with alot of these guys their talents are better spent in the lwer leagues rather than SL. There they can use their experience and knowledge to bring those comps up to speed... It would be nice to eventually have championship teams with the level and depth of players to bring into countries like wales and Scotland that would be able to rival france or even england. The UK has a massive amateur league with the conferences and BARLA... something we dont really have in the SH. In Aus all teams even in the country areas are semi-pro to some level.... not sure what the Kiwi staus but we have had this debate previously elsewhere. Unlike the UK... the RL-RU war had a very differnt flavour to it. RU was almost killed off in the 1920's literaly there were only about 8 RU teams in Sydnea dn that was it... QLD RU had been completely snuffed out... but in a bizare decision, RL in Oz decided that no RL was alowed to be amateur and that the 'amateur game' would be left to Union... since they figured people will want to get paid then no one will go to Union... well Union with that reprieve took its amateur stronghold... and would have been still ok in NSW if bizzare fights between the QRL and BRL didnt happen... but they did and it alowed Union to reform in Brisie and then you had the making of the Union game in oz again.... thinking 70 years down the track... league should have stomped on them once and for all and in turn probably would have killed off anything the Allblacks and england had... as worthy SH oppoistion would have not existed.... I would go further... and this is just my speculation now... south africa would have jumped ship to league as well seeing that Oz and NZ RU had 'collapsed' and indeed in the 50's many players and refs did jump ship only to have the sporting appartheid imposed on them by the SAfRU... abnning of grounds and players etc... the usual shenanigans.

Heritage day to celebrate history of Rugby League in London The rich history and development of Rugby League in London is to be celebrated by the inaugural London Rugby League Heritage Day, which is taking place in the capital on Sunday March 22nd. The event – which is the first of its kind – is taking place at the White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, the home of London Skolars RLFC, and is being staged in conjunction with London Rugby League - the umbrella body which is a partnership involving the RFL, clubs, volunteers ands other stakeholders and works collectively to develop the sport in the city and the wider region. The day will include a host of activity including the launch of the new London Rugby League Museum, where memorabilia from clubs throughout London and the South East will be showcased. On top of this, the Bob Evans Memorial Trophy for services to London Rugby League, will be re-established and will be presented at half time during the Co-operative Championship 1 game between London Skolars and Swinton Lions. Also taking place on the day will be a ‘Masters’ game of Rugby League between London Skolars and Fulham/Crusaders/Broncos/QuinsRL past players. Masters Rugby League is 13-a-side contact rugby with some rule modifications changes, including a 5m offside rule instead of 10m and different tackle rules depending on the age of the competitor. Already confirmed for the game are former Fulham RLFC Superstar Hussein M’Barki, former Bronco Junior Paul, former Skolars and Broncos player Ady Spencer as well as one time London Crusaders stalwart Daryl Pitt. Darryl Pitt said “We believe the London Rugby League Heritage Day will become an annual event celebrating the game’s history in the capital and is an acknowledgement of the efforts of everyone from loyal Rugby League supporters through to the professional players in every era.” Also incorporated into the celebrations will be the Highgate Wood Family Rugby League Festival, featuring a boys and girls tournament highlighting the Rugby League activity in Haringey. Refreshments will be available and that will ensure everyone involved has an opportunity to catch up with some old and familiar faces from years gone by. For more information re tickets, memorabilia and participation, please contact Paul Thorman on 020 8888 8488 or paulthorman@skolarsrl.com. About LondonRL (www.londonrl.com) LondonRL is the body that manages the development of Rugby League across London and the South East. Rugby League across the region is in magnificent shape In 2008 alone, more than 35,000 individuals participated in the sport 165 school teams played in the Carnegie Schools Championships 8 South East based Universities played in SRL competitions From minis through to seniors, over 3,500 people played for 91 teams within 43 clubs There are two professional clubs within the region, Harlequins RL & London Skolars In 2008: 17 junior players were selected for national representative squads Three Harlequins players were chosen to represent the full England Rugby League side.

I'd think this team may be in line for a game against a EC team, i think Wales, Ireland and Scotland may look for the full England or French teams as warm ups but Serbia, Russia and Lebanon would be a decent bet I think. I like this idea.

I think it will also be like a fringe team that they would send to Australia lets say and play a Pm XIII akin to the PNG game... I think thats what they need is some of the younger and fringe players exposed to a more international games.
But say An england A giving warm up matches for Russia or Serbia et. al would be very useful indeed as well.

Perhaps an annual tri-series, based in PNG< could be held between the PM's XIII, England A and the PNG Kumals.

Alex hopes for Great Britain call1:00pm Saturday 17th October 2009 Source: BassingStokeGazette.co.ukRUGBY League is not the most popular sport in north Hampshire – but one Overton teenager is looking to buck the trend by being picked for the Great Britain squad. Alex Millar, who is 16 and lives in Pound Road, is currently in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, for the British under-18 trials. Millar is representing London and the South East in games against other regional sides from all over the country – while the national coaches look on. He said: “I think I have a good chance of being selected for the squad if I play well and I am really excited about the trials. “It will be good to test myself against some of the best young players in the country.” See Thursday’s Gazette for the full story.

Tell you what, England have plenty to work on after that. Fitness effected the French as the game went on which was a shame. The French looked very good in the first, fantastic defense and good ball movement with a couple of nice tries.
A huge improvement on the French team we saw last year in the WC.
