So there is much critisism that the ESL teams have relatively small squads and not much depth when hit with injury. But as this article shows, the NRL teams can be just as suceptible.

Last year the Dragons almost had to forfeit matches because of injuries.

Last year the Dragons almost had to forfeit matches because of injuries. So is the whole "English clubs have no depth" just a myth?

Well with the salary cap its impossible to have depth, you have perhaps 20-25 first team players and with half a dozen injuries you soon get through numbers, its not a myth as such its just australia has had more time with its salary cap, its something unheard of here.

Will the academy set up help teams as well now? I guess they are the feeder clubs like in Australia.

It might do, we have always had the Academys they were just like u 20s, well U21s here
maybe this new Franchise system should open up more options, not nesaceraly for bona fide "feeder" clubs like you guys have but the smaller town clubs, like Barrow should get maybe 3 or 4 SL "loanees" for the whole season this would give young SL kids a higher level of comp than just the reserve team RL.

From what I have been reading that is certainly the case... the first instance we have seen is the Whithaven/Leeds aggrements last week to do just this.
