Hunt and Gasnier out for Australia. The problem is injuries don't really effect them, they have so much good depth.

We haven't seen the best of Gasnier for a long time now.

This is my best Kiwi's backline
1 Webb 2 Inu 3 Webster 4 Hape 5 Vatuvei 6 Marshall 7 Leluai
All of them are injured or unavaliable, it isn't good enough. Wigan refusing to realease Leluai for Whitehaven is ridicolous they can't need him! RLIF rules state the clubs must realease their players. It should be that players which aren't injured must be realeased or else they can't play for the club that weekend and the club should be fined lets say 3000 dollars or pounds or whatever. Half of the money can go to, in this case, the NZRL and the other half can go to developing rugby league.

Yeh well thats my best backline too if you switch webster with matai, still injury has struck again with vatuvai, marshall and inu out. It will be rubbish if the Sl players don't play especially Leuleui (excuse spelling), i mean whitehaven.. come on now. Maybe any players should take it on themselfs and say "i want to play and by the rules you can't stop me". I don't think any of them would be sacked, after all they have every right to play for NZ. I read a good quote in RLW today "yet another example of narrow-minded clubs putting their own well being in front of International RL"

We can't afford the silly penalties.

RFL Statement regarding international selections Nigel Wood, the RFL’s Chief Executive, said: “The Rugby League International Federation’s (RLIF) rule states that international selections should take priority over domestic playing requirements. The RFL fully supports that principal; however, in respect of mid-season internationals, we clearly understand the legitimate concerns of our clubs when travel between hemispheres places an unreasonable demand on players. Also in this case the international in question falls within an extremely important period for the clubs. This includes the showcase engage Super League Millennium Magic event which places additional heavy demands on players and the Carnegie Challenge Cup Fifth Round, which is a sudden death fixture in a hugely important competition. We have made clear representations to the New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) in relation to these issues. If international competition is to continue to be regarded as the pinnacle of the sport, such contests should not ask players to play when they can only arrive a very short time before the match. The RFL is of the view that there is an established and agreed protocol in international, inter-hemisphere Rugby League that teams are only asked to play with a minimum of a weeks rest after travel and therefore we believe the same conditions should apply to individual players. The RFL will be writing to the RLIF asking them to reflect on this difficult situation, but we emphasise we will be abiding by the current rules. www.therfl.co.uk/~therflc/superleague/news_item.php?id=10417 Kiwis 19-man squad is: Roy Asotasi©, Adam Blair, Nathan Cayless, David Fa'alogo, Dene Halatau, Lance Hohaia, David Kidwell, Thomas Leuluai, Isaac Luke, Simon Mannering, Jason Nightingale, Sam Perrett, Frank Pritchard, Ben Roberts, Setaimata Sa, Jeremy Smith, Iosia Soliola, Brent Webb, Sonny Bill Williams.

My gawd... Gus actually calling for reform of the IRL selection rules? Read hereThis is a guy who sees an international as a trip upto townsville! A lot of what he said is right though. Myself if I got the chance I would play for England (through my grandmother) just to help the international game (however I would not play for Great Britain, I do not like that term and it should, as it will be, dumped, everyone calls it England anyway). Also, if all goes to plan i will have a contract in France and I might then get my chance to play for France. I always considered myself as a French person in an Aussie body and have always loved France, it's people and the country.
