watchings skys boots and all show yesterday and was happy to see a small preview on the Eng v France game.................................until the presenters opened their mouths........... first question: what sort of side should tony smith pick? stevos Answer: his strongest..........(fair enough by me) 2nd question: should he not be looking to squad players as last years france game? (again fair point) stevos Answer: no, he should be looking at Peacock and morley in FR with roby look to get that combo going (again no worries i understand the need for the right team balance, but here is where stevo makes me think "why do we bother") he continues: If we are realistic only 3 sides can do anything in the WC (this from the top caller of the company which has agreed to screen the games live ) he carrys on: I dont care if we smash france 70-0 we need to get things right for the Aussies. fair comment but if he seriously thinks a warm up game against france is perfect preperation for at least 2 games of much higher standard (nz and aus) then he is sadly mistaken and needs earlier retirement than i first thought!!! not once did they consider what France wil take from this game, infact I see the game as far more important to France than England, we all know Eng can beat France and they almost certainly will but I personally hope that France can better last years scoreline of 40-14 a game in which they were by no means embarresed. glad I got that off my chest but its been bugging me all night

Marv am 100% with you on that.
Stevo is sounding like our own Rabs... knows lots about the technical points of the game, but F-all about the general stste of the game.
Rabs comment 2 years ago on our own Boots 'n all, bugs me to this day. He was complaining about the 'lack' of international RL, ststing the usual, East coast oz, Auckland NZ, nth england and.... here is the doozy.... 'Forget about franc its non existent'. Now last I looked, there are towns in France where RL is all they think about.... Catalans crowds put some NRL ones to shame, the Elite finals drew respectable crowds as well.
He also neglects the fact that there are over 30 countries playing IRL... now last I looked at the dictionary that means its an international sport... its insular myopic thinking of people like rabs that keeps the game from getting big.
I think IRL and RL in general could do with a good overhaul of commentators and reporters... there are some that need to go, not just in the UK but also Aus.

from the RLWC08 site... lets help him out. This is mainly for people in New Zealand who want to watch the game. Sky TV in NZ will try secure the rights for the match, if theres enough interest in it. So it will require quite afew emails. If theres demand they try to show. So just wondering if anyone could help out. Im dying to watch the match, it being world cup year. That would be awesome. Email- skytv@mailap.custhelp.com Or the proper way they want you to do it- go to www.skytv.co.nz and go to contact. Thanks for your help if you do

Greseque Out damn, that should ensure bosc plays 5/8 IMO. I think after such a great season at Catalans John Monie was going to go with both of them in the halfs, Full Back has been a problem for France for as long as I can remember. Kiwi Jared Taylor qualifies on residency grounds and has had a great season this year, so I hope it goes good for him, if thats what Monie does go with.
