Well I am back.
Another looooong weekend of rugby league and saw a game I did not plan on.
So Marv, great to see ya again, I will see about doing another trip to the UK for the WC final... comes to finances and time off work.
But yeah what a superb game the Grand final was, not the blow outn last year and both teams going at it. Leeds really did turn up to play, I think their loss a couple of weeks ago really got them fired up to dish out some punishment. The crowd was a bit lower, 68000+ but it was pissing down rain the whole time and sections of OT are not good in wet weather.
Leeds' defence I think is what was the difference. WHen Gidley scored the try out wide and caught them napping it made them go up a gear, didn't let anything through again, it was amazing, you may as well have watched Manly or Melbourned defence playing, it was so fast to slide across and cover gaops and get men in the tackle. But up front with Maguire leading the charge Leeds was also able to pile on the points. He's a crafty little succer and Barrow also had his little darting runs that you could see was panicing the St's defence. I though for Sts Leon Pryce had a great game though. But over all with the rain and slippery ball I though it was a remarkably clean game, there could have beeen sooo much more lost ball, but both teams did well to hold on to I thought. So yeah, 24-16 to Leeds. A great result!
That morning laso headed out with Marve to Salfords Willows to see the Salford v Western suburbs Magpiers U16 play... man what a top game. Both teams looked very good and I think it looks great for the future of Rugby League in both countries with these lads coming through. For the record Salford 18 defeated wests 16!
Also there was the international tour game, Lancasgire vs South Africa. Great game considering that the SAers arrived saturday morning, wentstraight to the ESL GF and didnt get to their hoptel till 9:00pm! To backup the next day and play a wonderful game of Rugby league was outstanding I though... more in thr IRL section.

My Super League weekend. It has footage of the Salford v Wests match and a bit of the Lancs v SA game and the Rugby League Museum in Huddersfield.
