From what I understand this years WC is already set to make a profit through sponsors before even adding merchandise and ticket sales etc. Hopefully the RLIF can make a tidy profit from the tournament, I'm thinking $3-5million will be made but that is just an un-educated guess.
More importantly where will the RLIF use the money?
I really hope all profit is used wisely and given to countries/organisations that need it, not just straight back into the ARL.
Areas that I think need majority funding: South Africa, New Zealand, Russia and PI's (especially PNG and Fiji).
Russia is a bit suspect though, I fear that any money given there would be wasted.
Maybe give 60% of the money to RL bodies and the rest be put towards organising future tournaments until the 2013 WC. The Four-Nations should also bring in a steady profit to keep the funds flowing.
I hope this WC makes a good profit and the $ is used wisely. Afterall one thing IRL is lacking is money.

First into the RLIF.
Believe it or not there are no full time staff on the RLIF running it. It needs to become a paid, independent organisation that does not have heads of the main federations running the cophers.

Didn't know that, sounds like the money needs to go into the RLIF running properly. Then the remaining funds could be distributed amongst playing countries etc. If I had to take a guess I would say the 4 nations tournaments would make a decent profit and hopefully the pacific 6 nations, euro nations etc can make a profit aswell.

If done properly all the tournaments can turn profits, but we need to get the people on the ground to do it first... The RLIF and RLEF are basically part time run organisations.
