I was wonderring if this would be doable. Hold this game prior to the actual 4 Nations game like the NYC if you will, and hopefully this will filter up to the National sides

its a goood idea and i would personally pay to see the game on its own. however i dont think new zealand would be able to afford flights and accomodation for another 20-25 people to england and france.

I think its a quality idea, these are the sort of things 4N money should be spent on. Sure, France would probably get touched up a bit as some of the young guys in France dont put the emphasis on Gym work like we do in the UK, or In Aus.

It will take time but hopefully France sets up a Academy in the not to distant future (if they already haven't). I can see why Colin Love hasn't implemented this though with the amount islander coming through the juniors in Australia we'd get flogged by them and it would give the kiwis a renewed self belief to beat the Kangaroos every test. Which would actually make Test football alot more competitive then already is

I think it's a great Idea to have the best juniors from every country having regular competition. An 8 team Under 20's World Championship every 2 years would be great IMO. Australia, NZ and England would be the obvious favorites but Wales and France should give a good account for themselves.

i think its a money thing more than anything else, although it could obviously be argued that its just the RLIF being the freakn RLIF. flights and accomodation for 8 teams along with daily alowances ads up to quite a lot. if the tournament did actually go ahead i think it could be televised and losses could be minimised with hard work. as a compromise on cost of flights and travel a halfway point might be a possibilty, i.e japan. in saying this higher crowds and general interest would be generated in traditional RL countries (especially in aus and nz with the toyota cup success).

Many of these juniors and U20s would be needed to go into the national teams of the countries... It just doesnt pay to have this comp at the international level. Maybe at U16 or U18... but U20 these guys are already looking at full rep honours.

I guess you have a good point there Druzik, but there are late bloomers in all sports and something like this might help identify them. One thing for sure, its the same old chestnut, if these kids had regular competition, it would surely be better than the odd game.

It would ceratinly throw up some interesting results I think. The quantity and quality of the Islanders coming through the Toyota Cup would see Tonga and Samoa produce very competitive sides. Even Fiji and the Cook Islands could almost produce a squad soley from players plying their trade in the Toyota Cup which has to be good for their professionalism (something which can be lacking amongst those nations players).
As for the NZ team... can anyone say U20 World Champions! Last years squad would have looked something like this: Kevin Locke Kingi Akauola Alex Glenn Chase Stanley Shaun Kenny-Dowall Liam Foran Keiran Foran Sam McKendry Linton Price James Tamou Eddy Pettyborne Sonny Fai Anthony Cherrington Russell Packer Patrick Ah Van Arana Taumata Ben Matulino
obviously some of them are multi eligable with Tongan and Samoan heritage
