In the last couple years the Junior GB sides have all done really well against Australia... it wont be a walk in the park for the Ausssies by any means. I am dissapointed a game is not in Brisie, I would have gone out to see it.

do you know if the australian schoolboys are recipricating the tour? seems british amateur sides do a lot to promote the game. i dont here much about australians promoting the game in their area. although i think the australian affiliated states was a success but thats just a blip on the radar compaired to the tours BARLA , piioneers , community lions , british army etc do

Australian Affilitaes states, Australian University, Jr Kangaroos, Australian School Boys and Australian Institute of Sports teams have all sone tours of South africa, Japan, Pacific Islands, France and the UK in the last 3 years... in fact the reason the GB lions are out is because they have hosted the aussies for the last 4 years and felt it was time to return the favour... so I would say that no the ARL does its fair share of promoting the sport... but what happens is the Australian media does little to promote the international side withing australia... its NRL or nothing.

Below is a list of the tours that have been done since 2005 (when I started keeping track), as you can see the tours are increasing now and Australia does its fair share in Pacific I think. You also have to remember that its still not as much as GB in Europe, but costs are more for us due to distances.
Anyway here they are:
2005 * Mar - Australian Police toured Argentina on a 2 match tour in Buenos Aires * Oct - Kangaroos vs. PNG in Port Moresby * Nov - Kangaroos vs France in Perpignan
2006 * Sep - Australia vs. Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby
2007 * Jun/Jul - Country RL toured Tonga on a 2 match tour in Tonga * Sep - NSW Uni XIII toured Japan on a 2 match tour in Tokyo * Sep - Australi v PNG in Mprt Moresby * Oct - Junior Kangaroos played 3 tests against Fiji, Tonga and Samoa * Oct - NZ Maoris vs Aus Aboriginals in wellington * Oct - Jr Kiwis vs. Jr Kangaroos in Wellington
2008 * Jun - Australian affiliates states played in the Pacific tri nations against Tonga and Fiji in the respective countries. * Jul - GB Lions (seniors) played in teh quad series against Jim Beam cup, QLD rangers and NSW country in Australia * Sep - Australia vs. PNG in Port Moresby. * Oct - NZ Maoris vs Aus Aboriginals in Sydney * Nov - Austrlain Institute of Sport 2 match tour og france * Dec - Australian Institute of sport 2 match tour of Engalnd.
2009 * Jan - Northern Pride vs. PNG warm up for their test against Samoa. * Jun/Jul - Australian Affiliated States on a 2 match tour of the Cook Islands * Jul - Australian University XIII (WC winning squad) 3 match tour of South Africa. * Sep - Australia vs. PNG in Port Moresby * Nov - Australian Police vs. Irish wolfhounds in Ireland.

i stand corrected on the amateur australian schedule. would be good if it recieved more media coverage. bad loss for the community lions against australian schoolboys. 60 blot.

Yes you are correct, it would be great if the media did promote these more. The Footy show (either thursday or Sunday) or the sunday roast should have at least a 10-15 min section on it, get rid of some of the rubbish that is on there at the moment. Yes a bad loss indeed, but oh well you get that. see how they fair in their last two games.
