So I have heard down the grape vine of a slight change in the teams playing tournaments this year in Europe. Spider may be able to confirm some of this. But this comes from a welsh source.
3 tier - Euro Bowl: Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine 2 Tier - Euro Shield: Itlay, Germany, Czech Rep. 1 tier - Two tournaments: Wales, Ireland,Serbia and stands to reason possibly Russia, Lebanon, Scotland.
Other known games. Itlay vs. Morrocco
Mediteranean Cup: Italy, Malta, Greece, Lebanon
Four Nations: France, England, Austrlaia, New Zealand.
So that makes 17 European Nations (so far) involved in Tournaments and matches in 2009.

I've heard about the 6N, sounds really pomising too me, Dixon has mentioned it and I'm pretty sure it was Spider who mentioned on another forum that they are travelling to Ireland next year. As for the bowl and shield, I can't imagine why they'd be any different, let's hope some of the countries can get some weekly domestic comps running. These lower tiers should grow in years coming with Greece and Malta not too far away from domestic comps from what I've heard, also from TRL Denmark starting training sessions and Holland looking to try and get back into it.

Is it a 2 group, top of group final type tourney, this actually would make some sense. Couyld be a dry run for the European championships next year.

I'm looking forward to the Tier 1 tournament. I hope Fox Sports in Australia televise it.

Yes. I am hoping that the 6N one will be split into 2 groups, and that games will be the opening matcjes to the Tri nations ones. What better way to have 10 of the top european teams playing in the same spots. But here are the questions, what venues would you use in the 4 Nations?

Not sure, personally I would use JJB, Galpharm for group matches against Aus and NZ, I would consider a smaller venue for the France game, like Keepmoat with the Final at COM stadium

Id agree with all of that, exept i dont subscribe to the Wembley game personally, and I would switch the NZ/Aus tests for France, Toulouse is a bigger ground and I imagine you could get a few for France V Aus

Its one of the biggest rivalries in sport. The fans make the trip every year for CC so why not a test where they really can all get behind one team. There needs to be at least one game in an expansion area to target. Jean Bouin is about 12-13k and would be suitable for this. Without france playing but a good expat population there of aussies and kiwis plus poms can do the trip on the train easily enough. It could fill out to 10k at least. They had 8k for NZ vs. France in 2007 with a train strike on so I dont see how this would not work... its a risk that can be taken. The two french games should be in the heartlands. But Marv we can see that we will have another "agree to disagree" threads.

The fans make the trip every year for CC so why not a test where they really can all get behind one team. Well, I think you have to remeber you only have the opinions of a few hundred die-hard fans on any message board, I dont really think thats any way to guage wether or not a crowd would be sucessul. Your also asking people to fork out more money for another weekend in London, thats after the CC final, Murrayfeild magic and the Grand Final, it all adds up, moreso for people like myself with a young family, it would be difficult for me to just bugger off and leave the kids and wife, and also difficult for me to take them all with me! I would love to see a full Wembley for an Aus v England game but we couldnt even fill the COM last time we played there, so I just dont see us filling Wembley. Some say if its not full 50k would look great, well I have 2 problems with this. 1, how much would Wembley cost the RFL to use it for the game, and would they be able to recoup that with a crowd that would be a similar size if it was played in Manchester 2, 50k in a 80k staduim would not look alright on TV when you consider England RU or the FA could fill it three times over, it just gives people more mud to sling. There needs to be at least one game in an expansion area to target. sorry mate lost me a little bit. an expansion area for whom? England or France Jean Bouin is about 12-13k and would be suitable for this. I dont see why the Aussie v Kiwi game couldnt be in Paris, I was just saying I would switch the NZ game to the smaller ground in Perpignan and the Aus game in a bigger ground in Toulouse, as I think the 'roos would pull a bigger crowd than the Kiwis.

Interesting, you have gone with Wales for the Aus/NZ games and dan has gone for Paris with the Aus/NZ game, I'm liking the idea of taking that game on the road somewhere.
still not stuck on Wembley and I hear that wont happen now anyway, I think the NFL will be at Wembley at a similar time to the comp too so that could throw a spanner in that one, I dunno really.
I also think we should refrain from Elland Road, its a shithole IMO, to many places in the ground where your veiw is obstructed, JJB or Galpharm would be ideal for the Kiwi game

Yes but remember at the same time the Euro cup is going and Wales will have already an internation against Ireland there... hence why I went Paris.
