Spoke with Andy Fairhurst on the weekend after the RL GF, looks like the Czech v Germany game will be on the 1st weekend of August in Czech rep, most probably either Prague again or in Beroun.

What's going on here? Were the dates changed? Or did you have them wrong on the site? I had it on the News Fader but at a different date...

I guess it must have been moves, since the Czechs are playing Catalonia on the 20th and its when this was originally scheduled. But the SoO is trhe selection game for the national team so they needed to have it now. They have now 4-5 weeks to have the team get into camp and train...
Yeah I suppose they changed it from what I was given originally... but I was never notified of the change.
Sorry.

The Germany squad looks much the same so it looks like the Czech's have got alot stronger, although they were smashed by Catalonia who I would have thought are about on par with Germany Looks like it's a battle between the Czechs and Italy now, still think Italy will have them but it is unpredictable. How did Catalonia go against Morocco anybody know?

Just received word from Dan Czech republic has beaten Germany 30 - 4 in the Central Euro Derby. Dan was at the game and will give a full report on his return We certainly missed Leo Berngruber at 7 who has retired. Also we were missing our main Prop Moritz Hottenrott who sadly had to pull out last minute due to family commitments and others like Nico Koch, Michael Glaser, Markus Keinhorst, Alex Klöpper. But that should take nothing away from the Czechs who were tough and have an Army team playing now and so are a bit fitter and aggresive than last year. It was 10-6 at half time but things went from bad to worse in the second half especially with a weak inexperienced bench. Germany had a couple of guys new to Rugby League and odd guy drafted in on Thursday evening who had only played just 20 minutes of any form of Rugby when he played in last weeks State of Origin as we had problems bringing in somebody as they needed to have Friday off work! 5 players pulled out with less than 5 days to go-similar to the Czechs last year when they played Germany. And thats the problem when you take an amateur team on a long trip people pull out and the preparation is never as good as it should be because of various reasons. It was a bad day at the office for Germany as we lost 4 experienced players in the second half to injury- Simon Cooper, Jimmy Keinhorst, Kristian Keinhorst (Captain) and Domink Bastian. Sadly 6,9 and 13 were off. Hopefully all should be back but Domink Bastian at Fullback looks out with a shoulder injury. The Czechs deserved the win and hope this gives them a boost in promoting the game there and as usual they were the perfect hosts. Congrats to the Czechs and fully deserved. Germany have many things to look at both as individuals and as a team. Domestically the Czechs are in front of Germany and probably that was another factor. We in Germany need to get more games on though many people have to travel 3 hours or more just to get a game on and thats where a lot of Germany problems lie in the fact that the 80-90 based players are spread all over from Bad Reichenhall to Cologne which is a distance of 720km!!

Simon as you say it was a deserved win by the Czechs, but the signs are there for Germany that despite the inexperienced team, there are the players in the lower rakns that should be able to step up and fill the void in the future. I thought it was a pretty good exciting game over all, the game did stand in the balance at half time and I think the 11-1 penalty count should have given you more points but in the end the inexperience did show a bit. Nice to see a good warm up with some amateur boxing The setting as always in Europe was superb with a well overe 1000 year old town as the backdrop with one of the most spectacular cathedfrals in Europ looming over the stadium. Hopefully Germany can get a win over the Italians in two weeks. I will try and get some photos up tomorrow.

When you lose your 6,9 and 13 its always a hard ask. Sadly 4 players dropped out with less than 5 days to go so the hunt to find players free to travel Friday was on and our bench was weak to say the least. Sebastian Vermaat has only played 20 minutes of any rugby and did not drop the ball once despite playing Prop/Back row most of the 2nd half. We were lucky to find 4 players who could get Friday off work to travel I dont know why but it was just whatever we did failed. It was the experienced guys who made many mistakes- Jimmy Keinhorst failing to find touch with a kick. Nick keinhorst failure to kick a simple conversion. Jimmy Keinhorst losing the ball on a break. I lost the ball twice for no reason as did Micky Reinhold and Kris Keinhorst. Was just the basics we did wrong and we simply did not deserve to win or get any where near. Was frustrating to say the least especially after spending a lot of the week chasing round trying to find 4 Players. On Thursday we had one Sub! So least we got 17 out.
What Boxing? Who got the yellow? And I am a little angel mate as you well know!
