Actually they can get a decent size and mass in their millions. There are Aboriginal restaurants around the place that cook'em up for you. I once had Bogons, fried up in some butter, quite tasty reall, they were a bit nutty in flavour and the texture of the meat was sort of like a hard boiled egg.

Love fishin, nothing like landing a 20 Kg Kingy or a 60 Kg Yellowfin Tuna! So for the European based friends I'll explain what the animals are. 1. The first Photos is a Bandicoot... one of the rarest animals you'll see in Oz. On the endangered list but around Durras its one of its few strong holding areas, so if you don't make too much noise they come out. 2. Possums... the cheekiest animals alive. These guys have no fear and will quite readily come up onto your table and eat your food off your plate while you are! Also they love to do the bag snatch when ever they can so protect your bread! Introduced to NZ and are a pest now... they have a saying a good possum is a dead one.3. Kangaroos... need I say more, great to hunt, cook in the ground and eat.  mmmmmm yummy! 4. Goanna... Australias largest lizard, can get upto 2m in some parts of Oz. Edible too but as Crocodile Dundee once said "You can live on it, but it tastes like sh*t". 5. Below - a wannab... sorry Wallaby (was thinking of the Union team). Very rare to spot them in the wild as they are really shy animals, usually have to spot them real early in the morning or hit them with a car.   Oh how I hate possums. I love going possum hunting, they're real fricken annoying. There's this famous highway in NZ, full of dead possums. Wallabies are pretty cool animals though. |

I have heard some pretty disturbing things about the possums in Kiwiland, that they have turned ferral and that have evolved into a new species already and are real vicious. The aussie one won't attack you just steal your food. So I bet you like the wallabies becasue you always beat them?  |
